We just had a really cold rainy long weekend. My husband had a man cold so we spent most of it inside. I decided to work on some new embroidery ideas:

4  FREE Craftea Chat workshops in Melbourne August-September in AUSTRALIA by ms.cate on: July 13, 2008 11:37:28 PM
I'm organising a  8 week series of 'craftea chats'  for women who have experienced mental illness and are based in Melbourne.

We'll have different materials and teachers each week and you can bring along your current project or learn a new skill such as knitting, sewing or cross stitch. All materials are provided and each session is free. Depression, anxiety and the like can be lonely and isolation and the workshops are a great chance to meet other women and engage in some crafty fun while enjoying tea and bickies.

Weekly from August 6th
6.15-8.15pm
Ross House, 247 Flinders Lane, Melbourne

The workshops are funded through a grant by The City of Melbourne and auspicing of the Victorian Mental Illness Awareness Council

Interested? Check out the details below and email ms.cate@gmail.com to book your place (spaces are limited).

5  They call me mellow yellow.... in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ms.cate on: May 18, 2008 10:56:34 PM
As my recent 'No spend craft month" I made the following outfit:

A Line skirt made out of a curtain. I'm a far from brilliant sewer and I lost the zipper foot for my machine so I had to handstitch the zipper. I might take it in at the waist a couple of centimetres so it sits a bit flatter at the front.

Can you see the rounded pocket? There's one on each side, but I'm not much good at photography!

I also recreated this t shirt with a cute pic I got years ago as part of a Peter Rabbit bath book. Having owned bunnies (well been owned by bunnies to be precise!) I am fond of all things related to Peter Rabbit!

And here's a close up of the Robin (geez I really should've ironed it):

6  Re: My Tape Wallet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ms.cate on: March 27, 2008 09:59:58 PM
How bizarre! I created my own version of the zipped wallet with sides on it (its a bit different to this and the original zippered one) as I found the original attempts too flimsy and coins kept failing out whenever I unzipped it.

I made some deeper ones also using different fabrics which I like also.

9  Re: My fabric storage in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by ms.cate on: October 07, 2007 06:14:40 PM
I gave it a go last week....

I'm getting rid of a heap of books and getting a smaller bookcase for under the window to house what's left.

I have a 3 tubs under the bed- scraps, clothes to make into things and felted jumpers...

10  Hand Embroidered gloves.... in Needlework: Completed Projects by ms.cate on: October 04, 2007 04:45:23 PM
Some new gloves from me...what do you think?

I've been trying to think of quirky animals and such to put on gloves. I thought the ants would be a fun present for my boy and I'm hoping to do some bunnies next...
thanks
Cate
