I really like this. The handle and the heart especially. But what does that strip of paper say, though ?

25  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Lipgloss tin into a Pirate shrine on: September 17, 2006 12:45:42 PM
I found this old lipgloss tin and decided to make it into a pirate shrine for my Mom (who's been into pirates for a really long time).

I forgot to include something for scale, but it's about the size of a silver dollar.

The picture inside the lid is of Mary Read, a famous female pirate. My Mom's name is Annie so I wanted to use Anne Bonny, but the picture I had wasn't very good. There's some shells from South Carolina, and a fake "pearl" necklace for a bit of plunder. Grin

The rolled up strip of paper says:

Yes, I am a pirate. 200 years too late. The cannons dont thunder, theres nothin to plunder, Im an over-40 victim of fate. Arriving too late. Arriving too late.

Which is the chorus of A Pirate Looks at 40 by Jimmy Buffet. Its one of her favorite songs, and she has a pretty nifty t-shirt based on it or whatever.

Anyway, she loves it and was very surprised so I'm happy. Smiley
