31  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / I DID IT!!!!! on: June 02, 2006 09:19:20 PM
OK, so I crochet, and I've been trying for 2 years to knit even a swatch, and have failed miserably every time.  So I read up on it and saw a couple of things: That Continental style knitting would be simple for someone who's used to crocheting, and that the best place to learn to knit was the Stitch n Bitch book.  So, after getting the Happy Hooker for mother's day, I loved it enough that I figured I'd get the knitting one and see how I do.  I bought it today, and while I haven't done any actual projects, I have several swatches of even knitting and one of a surprisingly good stockinette stitch.  So I'm all excited, and I really wanted to share with people who would understand, and since I learned from this book, I figured I'd post here.  So, yeah.  WOO-HOO!!!   lol  Projects to come soon!  Probably a scarf, but hey, that's good for me...I'm just happy I'm not dropping stitches!  lol

The funny thing is, no matter what I looked at or who I talked to, I just could not get the process down.  I sat down with this book, and my first swatch was not professional looking, but it didn't look like something a beginner had done.  It was easy.

Yay!!!
32  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Aqua Teens, Round 2? on: April 28, 2006 10:56:07 AM
Come on.  You know you want to...well, here's your chance!  Craft some fabulous Aqua Teen goodies, send them to a random stranger, and have a bunch of people admiring your genius!  What could be better? Wink

And, hey, maybe I'll actually try organizing...Ooh!  lol
33  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / A couple of hats on: April 26, 2006 01:40:32 PM
OK...last winter I made a couple of hats.  My first, actually.  So please, be gentle...  lol

Meatwad!  Because everyone loves Meatwad...
(inspired by this hat , which is much better than mine.  Grin

This was the first hat I ever made, and you can tell. Embarrassed  Oh, well, live and learn... Cheesy

And my favorite one, of my own design:

Because pink skulls are just plain cute.

Also, these are adult sized hats being modeled by kids, so they don't fit them wonderfully.  But you get the idea.
34  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Green Day for Preschoolers on: March 17, 2006 01:02:49 PM
My kids are big Green Day fans, and my younger daughter wanted a shirt.  SO, a shirt.

Back:

Somehow that line just seemed appropriate. Grin

BTW, she was thrilled when I told her that she was going to be on Craftster!  lol

35  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / LOST swap? on: February 04, 2006 07:14:18 PM
Well, I saw the Gilmore Girls swap idea, but I don't watch that.  I do, however, watch Lost rather religiously.  So I was wondering if any other Lost freaks would like to do a swap.  Maybe tell our favorite character, and favorite episode, and figure things out from there?  Any thoughts?
36  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Where I live swap? on: January 24, 2006 02:26:47 PM
Does this sound interesting to anyone else?  Like, I live in Maine, so I might send some homemade blueberry jam, a homemade stuffed moose, a balsam pillow...  Someone in Key West might send a homemade sarong, a seashell necklace, etc...Ooh, I miss Key West...Would anyone be interested?

PS...Don't sign up because I said jam...I don't make jam... Grin

37  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Elle magazine 2-2006 crochet hat on: January 14, 2006 11:43:44 AM
Did anyone else notice the absolutely killer hat that Madonna is wearing on the cover of the February issue of Elle magazine?  It is beautiful!!  The shopping guide says that it's $220 at relliklondon.co.uk.  I'm thinking, a skein of metallic yarn and an evening with a Family Guy boxed set and I've got me a new hat!  I'll probably test it with WW yarn first, because I just learned to crochet last month, and specialty yarns seem to be a bitch to take out if I screw it up. Cheesy  I'll keep you posted.
38  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Wheel of Time swap? on: January 13, 2006 05:28:50 PM
Would anyone be interested?  I'm just thinking it would be a blast crafting the Green Man.  Of course, there's the risk of everyone getting seals to the Dark One's prison, broken or otherwise, but still...I wanna crochet an Aes Sedai shawl!  LOL

Any takers?
