OK, so I crochet, and I've been trying for 2 years to knit even a swatch, and have failed miserably every time. So I read up on it and saw a couple of things: That Continental style knitting would be simple for someone who's used to crocheting, and that the best place to learn to knit was the Stitch n Bitch book. So, after getting the Happy Hooker for mother's day, I loved it enough that I figured I'd get the knitting one and see how I do. I bought it today, and while I haven't done any actual projects, I have several swatches of even knitting and one of a surprisingly good stockinette stitch. So I'm all excited, and I really wanted to share with people who would understand, and since I learned from this book, I figured I'd post here. So, yeah. WOO-HOO!!! lol Projects to come soon! Probably a scarf, but hey, that's good for me...I'm just happy I'm not dropping stitches! lol
The funny thing is, no matter what I looked at or who I talked to, I just could not get the process down. I sat down with this book, and my first swatch was not professional looking, but it didn't look like something a beginner had done. It was easy.
Well, I saw the Gilmore Girls swap idea, but I don't watch that. I do, however, watch Lost rather religiously. So I was wondering if any other Lost freaks would like to do a swap. Maybe tell our favorite character, and favorite episode, and figure things out from there? Any thoughts?
Does this sound interesting to anyone else? Like, I live in Maine, so I might send some homemade blueberry jam, a homemade stuffed moose, a balsam pillow... Someone in Key West might send a homemade sarong, a seashell necklace, etc...Ooh, I miss Key West...Would anyone be interested?
PS...Don't sign up because I said jam...I don't make jam...
Did anyone else notice the absolutely killer hat that Madonna is wearing on the cover of the February issue of Elle magazine? It is beautiful!! The shopping guide says that it's $220 at relliklondon.co.uk. I'm thinking, a skein of metallic yarn and an evening with a Family Guy boxed set and I've got me a new hat! I'll probably test it with WW yarn first, because I just learned to crochet last month, and specialty yarns seem to be a bitch to take out if I screw it up. I'll keep you posted.
Would anyone be interested? I'm just thinking it would be a blast crafting the Green Man. Of course, there's the risk of everyone getting seals to the Dark One's prison, broken or otherwise, but still...I wanna crochet an Aes Sedai shawl! LOL
