21  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / My very first Kanzashi flowers, thanks to alwaysinmyroom!!!! on: September 20, 2006 07:42:37 AM
Sooo...alwaysinmyroom, being the angel that she is Kiss ,sent me a DIY kit so that I could learn basic Kanzashi flowers.  Here are my first three, I have several more but haven't got pics yet.

I gave them to my mommy, plus the beaded dragonfly and the jewelry box. She actually wears them, so I'm all impressed.  Grin
22  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Mmm...Donuts... (Please help me!) on: August 22, 2006 07:14:41 PM
OK...My husband and I want to make some filled donuts.  But we don't want "normal" fillings.  We're looking for ideas for some non-traditional, maybe some healthy fillings.  We're thinking PB&J would be good, and we're also considering trying crushed candy bars in a cream filling.  Any other ideas?
23  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / I just made a deal with my husband.... on: August 22, 2006 04:52:08 PM
...and I don't know if I can do it!!! Cry

We were in Hell today (Walmart) and as I was leaving, I noticed the LOST season 2 DVD poster(September 5!!!  SQUEEEE!).  Now, I am absolutely nuts for LOST.  So, I told him that if he'd buy it for me, I'd not buy craft supplies for a few weeks (till the week after it comes out).  I have a huge stash, so it seemed like it would be easy... Roll Eyes

I'm out of sewing machine needles.  Oops...  So, I can either steal my best friend's needles, beg my mom to buy them, or not sew for a few weeks.  Fortunately, I've got all the sewing that I need to do for the one swap I'm in right now done.  Eep... what to do, what to do....

24  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Polymer clay gone bad on: August 22, 2006 11:42:56 AM
SO....  I was making some Harry Potter polymer things for the HP for our kids swap...  and they came out beautifully!!!  Considering it was my first time shaping things into something recognizable, they were GREAT!!!

But, why would i post that in Stitch and BOTCH, you ask?  I'll tell you why:  15 minutes in my toaster oven and they are BLACK.  The golden snitch should not be black!   Cry  I'm so sad...  I followed the directions, but apparently my toaster oven of doom just doesn't do polymer.  I will try again, and this time, I will use the regular oven.

 Cry Cry Cry
25  COOKING / Dessert / Kahluakiggy's Random Cakes (updated 6/4/2008!) on: July 26, 2006 03:56:15 AM
My 2 year old (!!!) LOVES Finding Nemo.   (He says Momo.  Too cute. Grin )  So for his birthday cake for on his birthday (which is today) I made a Nemo cake.  (He gets a Blue's Clues one for his party.)  So...Nemo.

I went online and found an image of Nemo, then kind of looked back and forth from the monitor to the cake and drew it with a toothpick.  It's not great, but Elijah knows who it is, so I must've done something right, right?  lol  After his dinner tonight, I'll try to post an action shot.   Grin

Thanks for looking!!

ETA:  BTW, the white stuff in the bowl is cornstarch - for smoothing the icing.  I just looked at the post, and realized it looked kind of bad. Shocked  lol
26  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Pink and frilly and skully, oh, my!!! on: July 22, 2006 08:00:19 PM
I'm thinking girly stuff - hair clips, purses, stuff like that - stuff that normally you would see hearts or rainbows or something hideously ultragirlish on - with skulls, or tombstones, or skeletons, etc. instead.  Would anyone want to do a swap like that?
27  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Shirt for Jimmy Buffett concert - OPINIONS PLEASE? on: July 19, 2006 02:37:04 PM
OK, so I have tickets for Jimmy Buffett in August, and I made a shirt to wear to it.

Constructive criticism, please?  I've never sewn a shirt before.

BTW, please forgive my braless self - my strapless bra is somewhere under Mt. Laundry - I swear I won't be wearing it to the concert that way!  lol

29  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Stitch n bitch swap? on: July 11, 2006 05:57:52 PM
Would anyone be interested in a swap of items from the stitch n bitch books by Debbie Stoller?  And maybe Happy Hooker, in case there are knitters who want crocheted things and vice versa.  I'm thinking that the way to do it would be to list five things in the books that you want, and what you can reasonably make.  Then give your favorite colors and let the other person do their interpretation of it.  Anyone interested?
