1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Washing Fleece - help! on: July 03, 2008 12:35:52 AM
I've recently bought some raw fleece.  I tried washing it on Monday night as per the instructions on various websites.  I rinsed it until the water ran clear however I'm not convinced I got all the grease out.  In some bits there's still soft 'sticky' patches (and no, they're not random OM!).

Is this normal, should I expect to get all the lanolin out?  Or should there be a little left?  Also, if I need to get more out can I just wash the same fleece again?

Thank you for any help, all is welcome.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Bollywood Outfit on: April 03, 2008 01:37:17 PM
A while back I asked if anyone on these boards had a pattern for a lengha and a choli, or similar.  Well, I was able to find what I needed and make up my outfit for my dance show.  It even survived three performances!

It's a normal lengha and choli, made in sari fabric and lined in the cheapest poly I could find.  Classy huh?

I'm really please with it.  It's not the most flattering shape for my figure, but I was able to make an outfit that was comfortable to dance in while still having glitz.

This last photo is with all the jewelry added in and after a very long night.  Scuse the pizza boxes and death like grin.

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Cabled Penguins on: April 03, 2008 01:21:27 PM
As part of my Yarnie Scavenger Hunt swap I made my partner these gloves, complete with cabled penguins:

I'm almost getting to like cables....

I like them so much I'm making a pair for myself, with leaves.
4  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / I made a thing on: April 02, 2008 08:37:53 AM
It's almost like real yarn......

The lovely Purpleheather has converted me to another craft and this is my very first spinning project.  A huge mix of natural colour roving, plied with some purple died merino.

It was very messy, shedding everywhere, but it was fun!

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / I think this counts as homeware... on: January 30, 2008 01:28:52 PM
I made a few of these this Christmas.  I have a vast tea collection and most of my friends really want to try them all, however when they visit we always seem to only drink one or two types.  So I decided to make sure those who wanted to try... could.

A lot of the teas come from places that don't do samples so it wasn't just a case of ordering samples, instead I folded little individual sachets, filled them with a portion of tea and sealed them wit gold stickers.  The labeled sample packets then went inside a handmade box along with little menu cards detailing where the teas came from and how to order them.  Phew

(As a result my friends and I have just placed a tea order for over 100.  Eeek!)
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Crazy Quilt on: January 30, 2008 01:24:27 PM
For crazy people!

My second ever quilt and lessons learned from the first one were heeded.  I managed to match up seams and everything.  It's not much different from the first one I posted, the design is less regular and more muddled up.  So instead of a smooth shot, have an action shot.

This is purpleheather and her boyfriend enjoying her Christmas present.
7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / My first proper collage projects on: January 30, 2008 01:11:26 PM
Two Christmas pressies, I'm still not 100% happy with them, but the recipients loved them!

Largely I had fun with scissors and glue!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Smallest WiP ever on: January 30, 2008 01:08:36 PM
And it made an awesome Christmas pressie as a brooch!

'Scuse my mucky floor.
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Shawl, scarf and owl. on: January 30, 2008 01:06:16 PM
My other crochet projects from Christmas.  The scarf is from a random geek site, the shawl is from the Happy Hooker and the owl pattern is from purpleheather.

10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Finished Mario Mobile! on: January 30, 2008 01:02:55 PM
Finally got round to uploading my Christmas Craft photos today.  And here's one of my favourite pieces.  I made it for my partner, who's a little obsessed.....

What do you get if you cross a mushroom...

And some stars?

A Mario mobile!
