2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / space saving work station on a budget? on: July 11, 2007 10:56:50 PM
Hey All--

I am getting ready to move to a new apartment which is unfurnished (new territory for me)  and I am trying to figure out the best way to make some sort of workstation for crafting but it will also be where my computer is (yes Im still in teh dark ages and have a desktop) lol.   Anyway does anyone have any suggestions?

The room is 10 by 11', yes its small but its only for about 5 months lol

Here is what I currently have:

twin size bed (plan to put it on risers to create storage underneath)
tv cart-- about 2x3' which holds most of my electronic nonsense
Desktop pc with a HP printer that will have to be somewhere

One of these: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_5/602-1253440-9649430?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000MPS5JQ
A two shelf piece that stacks on top of the set of drawers

also 2 tall Rubbermaid Cabinets with a door about 15" wide and deep, close to 3' tall and a 3 shelf piece of the same dimensions

(sorry having trouble finding pics)

But yeah I think thats the basics, storage is not the problem I am just kind of stuck on whether to just get a computer cart and do my crafting on the floor (fine other than killing my back)  Or try to rig something up for the few months that I will be there... but yeah any help is appreciated.  Thanks!
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / How to make a grown up racing quilt? on: November 25, 2006 09:26:58 PM
so i am fairly new to quilting, but doing several quilts for xmas presents for my bf's sisters.  I would also like to make him a racing quilt of sorts.... we have been dating for 4 years now, and he is graduating from college december 16th and will most likely be starting a job with a somewhat high profile racing team shortly after.

I really want to make a nice quilt for him and was thinking of doing a racing theme but I don't want it to be too juvenile, I would like it to lean more towards modern and classy if that is possible..... anyone have any ideas?
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / First "grown up" bedding for my first apartment :) *PICS* on: February 04, 2006 09:33:30 PM
Well, after living in a dorm on a twin size bed for two years, I was extremely grateful for the fullsize bed in my apartment... Ive been living here since August but Ive been super busy and havent had a chance to snap pics when my room has been clean, which is once every 3 months or so lol.  I was obsessed with Emily Adams' dresses and shoes decor at the time, and i still love it, its simple and classy, or at least classier than the random things i had in my decor before this lol.  But anyway here are the pics I have taken so far.... I made the duvet cover, throw pillows, and had a little help with the shams when time was running out before move in day.

theyre not the best pics, but you get the idea... i will post more when i get things cleaned up a little around here lol
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / snow globe made from glass ornament? on: December 06, 2005 02:13:44 PM
I saw this idea on Michaels.com but there's no directions and im really trying to figure out how to do it, i think its so cute
This is the website, its the one in the bottom right corner with the bear in it
 http://www.michaels.com/art/online/Gallery?id=65464&pageNumber=2

from what i can tell its a glass christmas tree ornament filled with glitters and the bear and packages, then attached to a couple little clay pot saucers. i got some ornaments to try this with, but the hole is so tiny, i dont know how to put anything in there such as the bear, or how to make it sit right once it is in there?

any suggestions are appreciated, i really want to make some of these
