1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Pattern Help Please! on: December 08, 2009 02:10:46 PM
Okay, so I have been working on this stocking http://thecaffeineatedknitter.blogspot.com/2008/10/sparkling-sleigh-bells-stocking.html for my husband for christmas, and I've been doing great...until now.  I'm working on the heel, and I'm not sure what I'm missing, but I'm just stuck.

I made it to Row 11 in the section called "Begin Turning Heel."  Now, if I (slip 1, knit 1) 6 times, that makes 12 stitches on the needle, right?  Then in Row 12 I slip 1, P10, P2tog.  That's 13 stitches, right?  Am I just missing this extra stitch?  Where am I going wrong?

Can anyone help me finish this horrible heel?  I need to finish this for christmas, and I'm almost done!  Any help is really appreciated!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help with Knitty's 'I Do' lace shrug on: May 07, 2008 09:50:10 AM
Hi everyone!  I've been lurking here for a LONG time, but this is my first question.

Well, I'm getting married in November, and my dress is strapless, so I decided to knit something to keep my shoulders warm.  I fell in LOVE with the 'I Do' shrug on Knitty, here...

While I'm confident in my knitting abilities, and I've never shied away from difficult-looking projects, this is my first time working with lace, and I'm having a little trouble with this one.  I've started on it three times, and I've had to frog three times.  I'm getting a little frustrated.  The lace pattern itself isn't all that difficult, but what's getting me is all of the decreasing needed to create the bell sleeves.  They just seems really complicated to me, and if I forget to do them for a row or two, I have no idea how to go back and fix it without frogging EVERYTHING.

So, could I please have a few pointers from anyone who's made this before, or anyone who's more experienced with lace than I am?  Is there an easier way to keep track of all of those crazy decreases, or another way to fix them if I forget?  Man, am I glad I gave myself 6 months to get this done...I'm going to need it!
