1  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / a hoodie for my kitty, I hope she doesn't hate me now... on: October 01, 2007 03:16:22 PM
I'm a dork, I made my kitty a hoodie for winter.  Cheesy
She doesn't seem to hate it too much. I'm not one for dressing up pets but i couldn't resist and was stuck inside during cold rainy weather. Makes her even more snuggly than she already is!

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / orange wrist purse on: September 26, 2007 02:46:42 PM

Not sure if I will use it, I usually cart my giant multipocketed messenger bag everywhere. I thinks it's pretty cute though! The black and white strap is awesome embroidered houndstooth ribbon. The strap is removeable too.

Click on it for a bigger and better view. What do you think?

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / anyone do farmer's markets? on: July 06, 2007 11:50:44 AM
Since there aren't any craft fairs in my area, only farmer markets I decide to try it out (it was free for a spot)
It was mostly produce and a couple of artists and phtographers.
I seem to be the only crafty one there. I have handmade bags toques and wallets, some record bowls, medieval games and wooden forks my boy makes. He sold 2 games and that was it (to other venders). Nice comments on my stuff though, it didn't seem anyone was buying anything except food and framed photos.
I'm trying to think of something more geared to the type of crowd to sell. It's a very small town.
Anyone else or have any ideas for some projects that these kind of people would like or need?
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / swim suit elastic? on: May 13, 2007 07:11:59 AM
I'm fixing a swim suit for a friend and the elastic is worn out in the legs. Would regular elastic (the kind with multiple small elastic threads in the thread ) would it last long enough? I think she will only wear it in lake water, not chlorine water.

I'm not sure what else to use, I don't have much choice for fabric stores around here.

thanks for any help
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / mosaic patio table on: April 25, 2007 03:52:38 PM
Here's my new patio table. now its ruined, the top is chip board like stuff so it swelled and split in the rain, now i have a really ugly table Cry
***use real wood or put proper trim and seal it really well if you do anything like this that will be exposed to the weather!***
now I'm sad oh well, i'll know for next time, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa *runs off to cry some more*

I got all the materials for free including the table! I just had to buy some black grout.
The trim is strips of vinyl held on with upholstery nails.
Mosaicing (is that a word?) is so fun and I'm so happy with it! It was pretty easy too.
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / mosaic grout for outdoor table? on: March 28, 2007 07:19:05 AM
just a quick question... I'm making a mosaic patio table and am ready to grout it, does anyone know if there is a grout that would be better for outside projects that would stand up to weather if it get rained on? do you think regular grout would be okay?
I guess I could just ask at the hardware store but was wondering what anyone else has used
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / my (very) rustic log pergola on: March 23, 2007 04:23:31 PM
This is what my backyard looked like last year when we bought our place. The shed was falling down and was super ugly and wasting space in the already small backyard.
We needed a nice shady place to sit in the summer.

This is what we came up with.   found some fallen trees down the road. It's far from perfect but we love it and hey, it was free. It looks even better now,  cleaned up behind and to the side with less greenery to the left side so there is even more room for more chairs and we plan on building a small fire pit this year.
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / red dragon overnight bag on: March 06, 2007 02:19:38 PM
I had this shiny asian print fabric forever, I wasn't sure what to make with it. Planning a road trip next month so I made a nice big bag to stuff everything into, it holds tons of stuff!

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / A few shirts i made on: February 13, 2007 02:54:57 PM
I finally made a duct tape dress form/tool holder (see my hammer?). It's so much easier making things for myself now! I didn't have any patterns so I just winged it.
I always need new shirts so this is what I came up with.
Hand painted llamma, cuz their funny.

A funky super stretchy comfy paisleyish one

I just love the colour of this one, it feels almost like terry cloth, not sure what its called.

What do you think?
