Mary Maxim in the RioCan Centre at Yonge and Eglinton is great. There's another larger location in Ontario somewhere, but this one is great, and the staff is super helpful and friendly.

The main Mary Maxim location you're speaking of is in my hometown--Paris, Ontario.

When I lived in Toronto I enjoyed visiting the stores on Queen West between Spadina and Bathurst.

But I don't have any thread, buttons, etc.  And I want ribbon, etc.

Plus dressmaker's chalk, along with other general sewing supplies.

I'm resurrecting this thread because I need a machine. I see that Walmart at the Dufferin mall has a sale on machines for $99.00.  Yet I don't want to spend that much.  I'm practically broke.

I've been eyeing Craigslist. Have any of you bought a machine there?

Quite honestly, if I don't have a sewing machine soon...I might die.
