13  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My Reversable Cut Out Handle Bag....... kinda dodgy...... *kinda pic heavy* on: April 04, 2006 02:25:12 AM
I made this bag yesterday, And finished it about 5 minutes before I had to elave for an appointment. I think is cool, apart from the stitching, My sewing machine is playing up. I think the tension knob thing is broken, so My tension is all screwy. Thats why the handles are all retarted. and the pockets arent. The pockets are closer to what my normal sewing skills are like.

I looked at this tutorial, here by starlene, and this one here by stargirl, . I didnt really use them though. I took bits form both and did some things differently. Next time I do it, Im going to cut the holes for the handles once everything is together, it will make it easier to sew. I also used plastic icecream container lids to strengthen the handles...

On with the pictures... Smiley

Front of the darker side. This is my favourite side, You cant see the dodgy stitches from the weird tension problem I have now...  Cry also, note the other threads to be cut... Man Im lazy
http://home.curl.aunz.net/terri/pictures/darkfront.JPG

Back of dark side, same as the light side, I needed a pocket inside the bag for my phone so I could find it.
http://home.curl.aunz.net/terri/pictures/darkback.JPG

and the dark step picture....
http://home.curl.aunz.net/terri/pictures/darkstep.JPG

Elven.

P.s. If this was sewn better, when my sewing machine is fixed, and mby better, i mean neater not dodgy around the handle. How much would you buy it for...Huh Im thinking of selling some once My machine is fixed up.

ETA
p.p.s. It needs an Iron, I actually used it yesterday, so its a bit creased, Iron on interfacing will be another thing to add..!

Modified to add Actually take away, i got rid of the horrible lighter side... Use your imagination, Its the same as the dark side, only lighter and tan Smiley

Details of swap:

The idea is to make one (just one, no more, no less) tiny craft item.  It should be physically small (miniatures are encouraged) and should be something that you can craft with a high level of skill.  Even if it is a fairly simple/easy item for you to make, please embellish or perfect it so that it best represents your skill.  (For example, if you wish to make a coin purse, I encourage you to embroider, add beading, or take other steps to make it a really special piece.)

You will receive only one partner.  You may only send that partner ONE tiny craft - "extras" are not allowed in this swap.  (Partly because it can be embarrassing to receive more than you sent, and partly because this will force you to put all of your creative energy into make one really stellar, tiny craft.)  The idea behind this swap is to give you a simple, low-pressure craft swap that won't stress you out or cost a lot to ship.

How do you know if your idea is "tiny?"  Examples:  A coin purse is tiny; a clutch purse is not.  A pair of earrings is tiny; a necklace, earrings, and bracelet set is not.  A trinket box is tiny; a pencil box is not.  An ATC (artist trading card) is tiny; a full-size drawing is not.  A pair of small barrettes is tiny; one large barrette is tiny; a selection of barrettes is not.  (If you're not sure if your idea qualifies as "tiny," ask me!) All items should be 4"x4" or smaller.

As well as the regular rules I have some additional ones:

1. If this is your first swap please read: (http://www.craftster.org/swapsinfo.html) to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

2. You must post on this thread. A simple I'm in! or whatever will suffice. This is so I'm certain you get all messages.

3. Please put Tiny Swap in the title of all PM's ( I get lots so and sometimes it gets confusing.)

4. Please make an item that you would like to receive. Do some research on your partner.

5. Everyone should be willing to ship internationally. Its only a few bucks more, these are tiny things.

16  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Anyone know good fabric/craft/Bead shops in Melbourne..?? on: February 22, 2006 03:20:17 AM
I've moved here from Adelaide, and i seriously do not want to walk around town trying to find places like this... Its scary.>!

Adelaide is described, by people from here, as one street (in reality its much bigger, but they only see the one street Tongue)

anyway, so, i have a friend visiting, and we'd love to have some craft/fabric/bead type shops to go have a look in... Im up near Ringwood, but, she will be staying in the CBD, so thats better

(but if you know any in my area that'd be great)

18  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Uh-Oh Six Month Anniversary... strapped for $$$ HELP PLEASE!!! on: February 05, 2006 12:38:16 AM
Hello wonderful, beautiful, talened craftsters, In my ever wonderful wisdom, I have over looked the fact, that, in two days, it will be the day My bf and I got together,

This might not seem like such a big occassion to most of you, but its huge to me, This is the man i plan to marry, I want to spend the rest of my life with him.

Now, here is my dillema, I have, pretty much zero $$ I can spend on him  Sad
Because of situations out of our hands, neither of us work. and, we have a week till we get paid again. Damn those bills, no money sucks.

Anyway, i need something to show to him how special and wonderful he is to me, but, i am at a loss as for what I can do with no money, and little supplies...

Anyone have any ideas..??

A totally bewildered Elven

ETA: I just realised that that same day is my first day back at school..! oh-no

20  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / I found Altoids in Australia...!!!!!!!!! on: January 05, 2006 03:11:01 PM
Ok, so altoid tins are so great and handy for a TONNE of things, but there are also lots of crafty uses for them.

I have two, which i pinched from my boyfriend when he went to the states, he also has a tiny mini one i want so badly cause its gorgeous... but he uses it... poohey Sad

Anyway, So i was on holidays with my family in South Australia, Im live in Melbourne, and we went out for the day to Hahndorf, you know... the german tourist town thingo... Anyways, so we were walking around looking in the shops and stuff, and we came across a lolly shop...

So, me, being the sweet tooth i am, and my bf, being the lovley go anywhere I do kinda guy (well, thats what he tells me, he actually wanted to go in more than me) [and yes, that is what i keep telling myself] we went in and looked around... picked up a couple of things to buy... and then my bf saw reeces cups (sp??) so he bought some of them, he thought i would love them... (i gotta say, thank the powers that be for our chocolate, american chocolate SUCKS!!) so, i decided to be smart... and ask if they had Altoids...

THEY DID...!!!!!!!! I just about danced.... like i said.. im in love with those tins... anyways, i decided... instead of spending all my money and clearing the shop of all altoids, id only buy one... and make my mum go back and buy more...

so.... thats my little story incase anyone has been looking for altoids (or the tins) in Australia, more specifically, SA.

ElvenOne

P.s. The shop was called Humbugs
