1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Will this suit me? on: August 24, 2006 02:42:02 AM
So, Im short, round, and not too cute Tongue (maybe just a little cute actually but not big headed I swear!)

And i have fallen in love with these dresses in this pattern

http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M5137.htm?tab=dresses&page=1

and also, the first view, the paisley Jacket/coat in this pattern (only in black satiny style fabric, or cotton not in a pattern fabric)

http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M5060.htm?tab=jackets_coats&page=1

Im short (5"6) weigh between 220 and 240 pounds, my measurements are......

Bust, 52" (oops, no bra!, but i am wearing a support top thing)
Waist, 41"
Hips, 51"

But, I have broad shoulders.... about 20 to 21" across, I measured myself so may be a bit more or less.....

So., would either of those styles suit me? I havent worn a dress in AGES! And im falling inlove with them, its the end of winter/beginning of spring and I so cant wat to be wearing dresses.

Also, with my strange measurements (are they strange or is it just me?) what kind of skirts would suit me do you think?

Sorry to be asking so many questions haha Smiley

Heaps of thanks in advance!!!

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help a knob knit a hug...??? on: May 04, 2006 08:55:32 PM
Hi, me again....

I would like to knit this...

http://www.magknits.com/warm04/patterns/hug.htm

but, Im not sure I understand it at all...

I have the right needles... (what luck.. I only have one pair...!!!)

I'm going to make it in the large size.... But, without the stripes, (my yarn is variagated (is that the right word..? It has bits of diff. colors in it anyway.)

So, is this what I would do...

Cast on 42 stitches, 2 rows in rib pattern, which is....

Rib Pattern
Row 1: *k2 (p2, k2), p2 (k2, p2)*, rep to last 2 sts, k2 (p2, k2)
Row 2: *p2 (k2, p2), k2 (p2, k2)*, rep to last 2 sts, p2 (k2, p2)
These 2 rows set the rib pattern.

(can someone explain this bit to me.... Im guessing k2 is knit 2 and p2 is purpl 2 (now I have to work out how to purl aswell... gah) why are they in brackets...?? and, what does rep to last 2 sts mean..?

Dec 1 st at each end of next row and every foll 3rd row until 24(28, 32)
sts rem.

so... after the 2 rows of rib pattern, I knit normally.... but decresse one stitch at each third row..? (Dec. is just "Knitting" two together isnt it..??) Until i have 32 st. in my row....

Work 3 more rows ending with a WS row.

Im guessing I do three rows....... but, what does WS mean..?

Inc 1 st at each end of next row and every foll 12th row, taking inc sts
into rib pattern, until there are 38(42, 46) sts.

Does this mean, from the next row, increase one stitch, then, every following 12th row you increase it by one stitch..?

Work 11 rows.

Does this mean 11 normal rows..?

If anyone can help me at all...... that would be SO appreciated.... Im such a noob  Embarrassed And this is just one sleeve... Sad

Thanks in advance

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Lord of the rings/Tolkein swap...??? on: May 03, 2006 06:10:03 AM
ok. Ok i know Lord of the rings (further mentioned as LotR cause im lazy) Is kinda "over"

But i still love it *swoons and the rest* Its just so fantastic..!

It could be a normal swap, buuuuuuuuuttttttttttt,   I was thinking, it would be cool to do a 3 or 4 month swap.... they'd be like this...

(FotR = Fellowship of the ring, TTT = the two towers, RotK = Return of the king)

Four month swap
Month 1: Hobbit
Month 2: FotR
Month 3: TTT
Month 4: RotK

Three month swap
Month 1: FotR
Month 2: TTT
Month 3: RotK

Or something similar..... what do you think..?

I'd be willing to organise if I can get a decent amount of participants (or even a small amount, small swaps are nice swaps too Smiley
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Cushion/Cushion cover swap..? on: April 21, 2006 07:20:15 AM
What about a cushion swap...??

It could be a make a cushion, or just to embellish a cushion, or even a pillow case...

Or even a group of themed cushions..??

Just an (badly worded) idea
