11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Sea Change sweater on: December 01, 2007 01:05:19 PM
There is a great sweater in the Anthropologie catalouge. I was wondering if anyone knew how to make it or had a pattern similar to it? It looks like it might be fairly simple, but I have never completed a sweater before. I know a lot of you are very gifted knitters and can figure out how to make something just by looking at it (I hope to be this good someday!) I still have to follow a pattern to make something. I'm not really interested in the color variation, just the shape.  Anyone have any suggestions?

The link is here...  http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=2100272078859567316&id=71817&parentid=APP_SWEATERS_CARDIGANS&pushId=APP_SWEATERS_CARDIGANS&popId=APP_SWEATERS&sortProperties=&navCount=7&navAction=poppush&fromCategoryPage=true&selectedProductSize=&selectedProductSize1=&color=red
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / help with pattern, please on: November 24, 2007 06:56:13 PM
After the great suggestions I got for a face warmer for winter walking I chose to start Antifreeze from Knitty.

http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTantifreeze.html

I'm a beginning knitter and haven't finished anything besides a scarf. I'm having trouble understanding the next part of the pattern.....

Dividing Round: K10; place last 20 sts worked on hold on smaller needle (leave st marker in place); k60.    (it says to knit 10, but then talks about 20....Huh)

Work 55 rows back and forth in stockinette st over remaining 60 sts; work measures 7 inches from dividing round, ending with a WS row.

Can someone explain this to me?  Thanks!!!
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / wrap and turn? on: November 23, 2007 06:39:53 AM
I'm reading a pattern that calls for wrap and turn? What is that and how is it done?

14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / face warmer? on: November 22, 2007 05:11:19 PM
I adopted a dog this month and it's now starting to snow here. Problem is-my dog still needs to be walked and my face is freezing. Wrapping a scarf around it doesn't work and a ski mask might scare the neighbors. Does anyone have a pattern for a decent looking face warmer of some kind???

Thanks!
15  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / where do you buy fabric? on: October 08, 2007 02:48:23 PM
I'm looking for interesting and unique fabric. The JoAnns and Walmart don't have the most interesting selection in my town and that's all we've got.  Any online suggestions for cool (and not totally expensive) cloth?

Thanks!
16  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / wire curtain rods? on: October 08, 2007 02:41:17 PM
Does anyone know where to get wire curtain rods online? IKEA has the ones I want and the price is right (4.99) but the closest IKEA is like 6 hours away. Or does anyone know how to make something similar?

Thanks!
17  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / leather couch woes on: July 02, 2007 06:48:07 PM
My BF and I are moving in together soon.  One problem....he is in love with his 80's looking navy blue leather couch set.  I don't have a couch, but would prefer to buy a new suede brown one (I hate leather).  Using his couch would be a smart money saver.....but does any one have any suggestions on how to make it look less....ugly?  Are there inexpensive slip covers for those large leather couches?

Also, how the heck do you design a room around something that is navy blue and leather?

Thanks!
