I would not recommend it. It will leak every where and start to carmelize and then burn. Burnt sugar is not very tastey. :\

I hope this isn't too late but I think I know the easiest way for you to make it.

You're going to want to bake two cakes. One round and one sqaure or rectangle. Cut the square one in half, and then into the shape of ears. You can "glue" them onto the circle face with frosting.

holy crap! my jaw just hit the floor! I had seen your pattern when you posted that and I'm soooo glad you were able to make the dress you wanted. The diamond accents are brilliant! The back strap is my favorite part of the dress. Good Job, Loooooove it!

I don't know if you've seen the carved out books or not, but maybe you could find a book that looks kind of boring and leave the first few pages so that he really thinks its  book, but then he turns some pages and poof! tickets! I don't know if that makes sense or not..?
