O.K. so here's the deal. I am trying to work out a pattern for a lined box pleated circle skirt for my DD (and possible future sale of said skirts ) The front will have a faced waistband with an elastic wasitband in the back. What I am concerned about is getting the proper waistline measurement sized on my pattern.
How I am going about this is I have my DD's measurements(waist size), I add on the measurements to account for the pleats, side seams, and amount of gather from the elasticized back waistband. I take this measurement and divide by 3.14(should I round the # down to 3?) and then its result by 2. With the resulting number(let's say "6") I measure down 6" from the center tip of my wedge-shaped pattern piece and swing the arc around to the other side of the wedge.
Does this make sense? More importantly...does this sound right?!
