1  Re: Happy Mail 2: The Return of the Doodads Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by kayrun on: November 15, 2016 07:10:51 PM
oh, I'm so happy that you like it, purplexime!
my first time doing a swap like this (I usually stick totally to knitting!)

AND....
(since I finally found the Gallery, LOL) --
here is the lovely envelope that purplexime sent to me!

(ugh -- my pics are crummy, so if my partner has better ones, please share!)
the envelope is adorable, and filled with cute pendant/charms and a darling flower pin!
Plus 2 rings!
Thank you so much!!  You are a great artist!

I'm adding a very soft new yarn, Caron Cakes

an acrylic/wool blend in a BIG 200 gm skein (383 yds)

adding a pair of cabled boot cuffs (acrylic) --
will give measurements tomorrow

fit my calf snugly (approx. 15 inches around) -- these are meant to wear under boot
and peek out top (like so:  http://images4-b.ravelrycache.com/uploads/SbutterAMfly/47618811/legwarmers3_medium.jpg....mine aren't quite this long, and would
probably work best with short boots (but I can easily rip back if you'd like the length longer; am also willing to work a larger circumference if needed)

also found some nifty to-do pads & sticky notes with designs to be colored

I just need one more point (but I'm hoping for two so I can snag those alien snaps). Hmm I'm heading over to my show to see what items I can discount!

(or offer some type of supply grab bag, perhaps?)
I think someone had success with that in a past round....

We will each make/decorate a 12-16" tall stocking (cuff to heel) and fill it with goodies.  We will make/decorate and fill with our partner's tastes in mind.  Each stocking will have at least 50% crafted goodies, the remainder may be purchased supplies or items.  Everyone must post in the swap thread when they sign up as a swapper, and there will be weekly checkins every week in the thread!  It's a very long crafting period and we would hate to lose anyone along the way.  You may choose one of three sizes to do in this swap and you will be paired accordingly.  Sometimes there will be an odd number, so please note if you are willing to do (for example) Small or Medium or maybe Medium or Large or work with a 3-way swap.
Small - concentrate on a fab stocking and fill with at least 3 crafted and 3 purchased items
Medium - do a great stocking and fill with at least 7 crafted and 5 purchased items
Large - aka Spoiler!  A great stocking and no end of goodies!!

NOTE:  This is a holiday based swap so please do not send late - there are times when life interferes with crafting and we all understand that, however, a temporary negative will be given to anyone who sends more than two weeks past the sendout date, according to Craftster rules.  If you send late at all, it will be noted in your feedback.  Communication issues will also be noted.  We like to run a very nice, fun and timely swap.

Details of swap:
Welcome to the Givers and Needers swap! This is round 14!

Is your stash invading your craft space, over flowing your drawers, and pouring out of the closets? If so, this swap is for you!

OR

Do you need supplies to be able to try new crafts, complete those pinterest projects, or refill your empty craft room? If so, this swap is for you too!

WELCOME GIVERS!

If you have an overabundance of craft supplies and are feeling the need to purge, here are the details you need to read!

Givers will send a box of craft supplies to a needer so they can continue their love for crafting.
In return, you will receive a small crafted item as a "thank you" made with love from your needer.
The giver can choose the size and amount of supplies they send, just make sure to send enough to help the needer without breaking your budget. Send something you'd be happy to receive.

This is a great way to destash and help a fellow crafter who may for various reasons need some supply help.

WELCOME NEEDERS!

If you have more cobwebs than craft supplies in your closets, here are the details you need to read!

Needers will receive a box of supplies from a very generous giver.  In return, you will send a thank you gift that is the equivalent of a small. The thank you gift does not need to be crafted from the supplies the giver sends. The minimum is a small, but feel free to spoil your giver!

At this time, I prefer to only take applications for Givers OR Needers (no signups for both groups,
until I see just how involved the matching is going to be!  I may put out a call if I have room for
more of one than the other, so stay tuned  Smiley )

Other IMPORTANT Info:

^Please put G&N 14 in all PM subjects.
^Please mark all PM's with Approval, Sent, Received
^I reserve the right to refuse ANYONE based on late sending, history of incomplete packages, etc, etc.
^You must have swapped at least once before to join this swap as a needer.

Should your needs be something that no givers are offering, you may be contacted about changing your questionnaire.
Should you be offering something that no needers need, you will contacted to change your questionnaire.

Please be sure to take pictures and post items that you receive. If you do not have a camera, please PM your partner and ask them to take pics for you!
DC# are needed for ALL packages! If you are sending from or to someone outside of the USA please keep your receipt. I will need a copy of it once you send!

Please go through your stash or your needs well before filling out the questionnaire, this way, you know exactly what you have to give and what it is you need; itll be a great help when partnering time comes.

No one likes to be flaked on, so please only sign up if you can complete this swap.
Communication is important! You must communicate once a week; and don't forget to post in the thread BEFORE sending your signup form (per Craftster rules).

whew!
finally got pics uploaded & ready to post!

a big, big thank you to my amazing partner!!!
puzzled-penguin is multi-talented, and so thoughtful!  If you ever get the chance
to be her partner, GRAB her!!  LOL

She sent the sweetest postcard and covered up the letters so I could guess what each was
before actually discovering her "key"  Smiley

First, everything was wrapped in colorful tissue:

my name is Karen, plus she did the initial of my last name = G

Here are my pitiful pics (Louise, if you have any better ones, feel free to post -- I am one of
the worst photographers  Tongue)
and the letters stand for:
K= knotted neutrals neckscarf    (modeled by my doorknob)
A = azure avian applique  (amazing!)
R = refillable refreshments  (mmm...can't wait to try this loose tea w/ cloth bags)
E = environmentally unlikely tree  Smiley  (another amazing hoop)
N = not very wild animals  (these darling puppets will make an entertaining gift, but I may keep the zippered bear pouch just for ME  Smiley
G = Gus & Shawn's favorite pineapples  (from one of my favorite TV shows, Psych)

plus some lovely extras....had a cup of the Twinings tea as soon as I opened the pkg & it's very nice!
the soap smells just wonderful!!

I love love love it all, and I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to see each item!
She did such a good job of stalking me, and her craftsmanship is outstanding!!
Thank you just doesn't express my gratitude, dear partner!!
I feel totally spoiled!!
(and of course the swap pkg anxiety has kicked in.... hopefully yours will arrive in a week or so!)
