I recently made a veil for my friend's wedding (no pictures yet, sorry). I generally followed the instructions at http://www.wegotgame.net/jen/veils.html
, except that I wound a folded-up strip of tulle around the comb to give me something to attach the veil to (and to cover the top of the comb). On the bottom ~3 inches of [the top layer of] the veil, I glued a mixture of seed pearls, small rhinestones, and clear swarovski crystals; her dress had those decorations scattered about on the bodice. Anyway, I glued the decorations farther apart (maybe 1-1/2 inches) at the top of that 3-inch band and more closely toward the bottom (maybe 1/3 inch apart at the bottom) - she helped me design the pattern. I just cut the tulle, and didn't hem it. It was easy to do, and made a beautiful veil that matched her dress really well without detracting from it. She and I got huge compliments on the veil - nobody guessed it was handmade for less than $20.
