1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: smashed penny bracelet on: November 11, 2011 06:56:21 PM
Oh Lisa....never grow up Smiley

I have some of those smashed pennies and hope to get around to making something out of them and don't worry about going to prison. The posted info missed a few things.

In the United States, U.S. Code Title 18, Chapter 17, Section 331 prohibits "the mutilation, diminution and falsification of United States coinage." The foregoing statute, however, does not prohibit the mutilation of coins, if the mutilated coins are not used fraudulently, i.e., with the intention of creating counterfeit coinage or profiting from the base metal (the pre-1982 copper U.S. cent which, as of 2010, is worth more than one cent in the United States). Because elongated coins are made mainly as souvenirs, mutilation for this purpose is legal.

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Please help me with a jump ring / split ring question. (washer jewelry) on: November 07, 2009 03:38:49 PM
I want to make earrings out of metal washers. I am always afraid of jewelry falling apart ! I would love to use split rings but in the past they seem to stay stretched out after I get them around the item I am trying to connect. I don't solder so that is not an option for regular jump rings.
If anyone has any suggestions of what to use and what size to use when making washer jewelry I would really appreciate it. An online source would be great as I live in rural area.

Thanks so much !

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: New Year's Eve Wedding on: December 23, 2008 07:11:00 PM
IF you have some of your fathers old clothes and if you quilt, using the old clothes to make a patchwork quilt is a nice idea. I read about that idea in a magazine long after my mom had donated my fathers clothes Sad

I really like Capt_Jordi 's idea !

My cousin placed a photo of her dad on the alter. It was a nice tribute to him.

Good luck!

Thank you so much. There was a very expensive black and white cake stand I wanted but I don't have that kind of money for such things. Now I will find a great black and white cake and make my own! I already have the candle stick holder in my drawer !

Years ago I thought I invented scrabble tile earrings LOL IF it hadn't been for the internet I would have really thought I was creative.....but I found at least 50 examples on the net and believe me that was a few years ago LOL

I have not tried this but it looks very pretty. Could probably be done with beads too.
