1  Re: Bookmark Swap - Round 4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by tennisgal86 on: March 01, 2011 01:41:46 PM

Sorry I can't get it the photo to flip around, but the schrute buck is from RosyPosie which as I told her could not have come at a better time because I was having the worst possible day when I got home and found it in the mail.  I also brought it into my office and showed it off (since they're all guys and tease me about my crafting) they were all insanely jelous and apparently crafting isn't as dorky as some of them previously decided.....

the geisha which I also love since I mentioned my favorite book is memoirs of a geisha was from tree27

the one with the blue wrap around is from mouseatethekitty

and the blue and green braided one (it's very neat, but I'm a little worried to leave is out on the table lest the cats decide it was a present for them) was from honeybeee.

I love them all thank you so much guys and trust me my book collection loves you all since it will be spared some page dog earing for a while!

2  tetris blanket finally done in Crochet: Completed Projects by tennisgal86 on: January 27, 2011 06:30:43 AM

So I finally finished it... it was a christmas gift for a friend that I started on dec 1st and didn't manage to get in the mail until... Jan 13th.   I'm so glad it's done, I just used a basic granny square pattern each square is about 5x5 making the whole blanket a pretty decent twin size (it's a little thin on the sides so I might add to it at some point).  Those of you who may have talked me off my ledge a couple days before I mailed it thank you.  I had felt it was an epic failure and got disgusted with it for about 24 hours including threatening to run it over repeatedly with my car.

In all actuality I'm just so glad it's done, it was a ton of work, but my friend absolutely loved it as did his mom, who doesn't even really like video games.
c&c welcome, but try and do easy on me I very rarely get to post a completed project on the boards.... usually I don't finish them my closet is full of storage bins with 1/2 done projects.

3  Re: Fill-A-Box Happy New Year GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by tennisgal86 on: January 25, 2011 08:06:24 PM
I love seeing what everybody got so much!  I finally got a chance to get my photos uploaded (hubby took laptop and internet out of town for work) plus a vacation for me was thrown int ehre for good measure but here is what I received from mom2em!

and a close up of some of the fabric

I'm already making big plans for the fabric I'm thinking I need a new patchwork apron form all the fod fabric (I've got some little fod patterns in my scraps too that will go very nicely)

Also it's hard to see in the photos, but the green blob looking things are actually these very cool felt ornaments that I'm planning to use as embellishment on a skirt for myself (they're snowflakes) and I've got some cute brown wool I've been dying to turn into a pencil skirt just waiting for the perfect accesory.
I'll be sending out my box to atsuko on thursday and I'm super excited.  This was a great first swap and I can;t wait to try more now that I've gotten the hang of it!

... now to hide all of my new stash before hubby gets home from his business trip and notices more stuff in the house  Grin

4  giant christmas squid in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by tennisgal86 on: January 03, 2011 04:37:43 PM
This year for christmas I made DH a giant squid (he loves squids and all things with tenticles) sorry for the crummy photo, but at least I got one up.  I'm excited since this is my first completed project I've posted I think.  I've been a lurker adn occasional poster for a couple years now.

That is my cat nuzz sitting in the picture with the giant squid which dh named Mr. None... cna't realy rememeber why.  I originally made this so DH could take it with him when he goes to key west for work for a month, but it ended up being too big so he asked me to make a mini Mr. None (he leaves in just over a week and this was my first ever attempt at a stuffed animal) he's got some flaws but he's a great 50/50 piece. Mr. None is just under 5 feet tall and despite all of his flaws very awesome   Grin  he only took about 5 hours to make, he's made from white fleece and the underside of his tenticles is a very cool fabric from Joann's.  It's green flannel that has a white bubble looking pattern that really looks like tenticles.  I'll be sure to post pictures of the mini as soon as I finish him.  Thanks for looking, c&c welcome

5  Re: epic failure in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by tennisgal86 on: January 03, 2011 03:58:43 PM
here is a photo fron the back so you can see how it is all connected

it's kind of hard to see but insead of connecting it in rows i "played tetris" I have at least taken a little comfort in the fact that iy is an edge piece so at least it's nto in the center and i don't have to tear the whole thing apart... I think I've figured otu how to do it... it's just gonna take ma a while to pull it all apart and put it back together

I promise I'll post a finished photo of the whole thing looking nice as soon as i finally get it done
