That's the best picture.  Smiley  He's adorable!  And he looks very happy to be all bundled up, even in the heat.  Smiley
12  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Fire Mario Duffel Bag Made By my 5 yr old son on: March 01, 2006 06:52:15 AM
That's so great!  You both did a very nice job.  Now I'm inspired to teach my 6 year old son how to sew.  I'm looking for activities for him since he's grounded from TV and video games for a week.  Smiley  (I think the messy hair is cute, by the way.)
13  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Some of my kitsch jewellery! on: March 01, 2006 06:37:10 AM
I love all of your jewelry.  I just spent some time on your site and am lusting after some of the cocktail bracelets.  Smiley
14  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: i draw dead people on: February 27, 2006 04:36:16 AM
They are incredible.  Like someone else said, they are so beautiful and soft and seem so calm, but when you look closer you realize what the subject matter is.  For some weird reason it brings to mind that scene in Goodfellas where they're finding all these dead bodies in strange places but a nice non-threatening song is playing, so it makes the sight of dead bodies even more powerful.  Excellent work.

Here's my other item from Sarcastra - it arrived in the post today!

It's a freaking beautiful pillow.  On one side is "Every living creature on this earth dies alone" and on the back is the poem that Donnie reads in class.

I'm so thrilled with this swap!  I got more great stuff than I could ever have imagined, and it was tons of fun to watch the movie again and get ideas.  Thanks, Sarcastra, for being a wicked partner, and thanks Cosmicjacuzzi for being a wicked swap organizer.  Smiley

It fits perfectly inside the ring of corks.  I think even the sparkling white wine I occasionally sneak into the house (hubby can't stand it) will fit in there.  I love all of my new stuff.  Smiley
17  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Chocolate Swap - Signups CLOSED - Sendouts 3/1 on: February 23, 2006 12:27:37 PM
Well, I bought an embarassingly huge amount of chocolate, but haven't done any crafting yet.  Smiley  Buying chocolate is even more fun when I know I won't have to feel guilty after eating all of it.  And someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't chocolate that's given to you (like as a gift, or in a swap) contain no calories?  Maybe even negative calories?  I'm pretty sure I'm right about that.

I got my package from Sarcastra yesterday!  I'm so amazed at the amount of time she obviously spent on everything.  It's all so fab - I love it!  Advance apologies for the awful pictures.  My digi cam does not like me.

This is a horrible picture, but I promise everything is awesome.  There are two boxes, each with a scene and quote from the movie.  The smaller one says "When it will remind you of how beautiful the world can be" and has a picture of Donnie and Gretchen kissing, and there's silver glitter around the edge.  The larger one says "Why do you wear that stupid bunny suit?"  "Why are  you wearing that stupid man suit?" and has pictures of Gretchen, Donnie, and Frank the man (without the bunny suit).  They're even lined with what feels like velvet or some other really soft fabric.  The tops are really cool - instead of being smooth and Mod-Podged, they're sort of...grainy.  Or something.  I can't describe it well, but it's very cool.  She also sent a little pot of silver textile glitter, which I'm so happy about - I love silver, and I love glittery things in moderation.  I think my Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law shirt is going to be glitterfied soon.  Then there's an American Girl wristband with a giant red star on it.  It's already found a place on my wrist:

Hidden inside the bag that she made was also a black and white memory wire bracelet.  Unfortunately my daughters ran off with that one for their dress-up games, so I don't get to wear it.

And my favorite of the bunch, a beautiful canvas messenger bag.  Frank's head is on the front, and the countdown numbers are just under the flap.  There are lots of places to put pens and a credit card pocket on the underside of the flap.

It's lined with a great orange print fabric, and the zipper pull on the inside pocket is a little plastic charm of Frank's head.  I have no idea how she made that charm, but I LOVE it.  The pocket is lined with yummy black satin.  The appliques are just gorgeous and so well done.  I've been needing a new messenger bag forever, so I'm so thrilled to get it.

As if this stuff wasn't enough, my awesome partner has made something else, too!  It was in a separate box and hasn't arrived yet, probably due to the silly military mail system.  But I'll post that as soon as I get it.  Thanks, Sarcastra, this is all so great!

I received from BlondieKate yesterday!  What a fabulous harvest it was...

A lovely wine theme box...

And she even put tons of stuff inside!  There are two sets of cards, one of them is "A Celebration of Wine: 42 facts and fancies" and the other is "Wines of the World: a global guide to the fruit of the vine."  (Those were immediately stolen by my husband.)  Some very cool cocktail napkins (I guess in this case they'd be wine napkins) that say "Wine?  Wine not!"  And a set of beautiful wine cards with envelopes.

A cute little wooden box with four jumbo marble magnets inside, each with "wine" in a different language.  As a side note, I also have a crazy obsession with boxes and bowls, and the fact that I got TWO new boxes out of this swap thrills me and made my husband make a little face.  Hooray!

This is a beautiful quilted wall hanging made by BlondieKate's wife.  I love it!  I will have to find a special place for it to hang in the kitchen, which is rapidly becoming decorated in an alcohol theme.  Wonder how that happened...

An awesome wine coaster, decorated with tons of corks.  I almost forgot to post this one because it was already in use, holding a lovely new bottle of wine from last night.  The picture just doesn't express how cool this coaster is.

And finally, my very own original wine tray.  She even gave me instructions on removing wine labels from the bottles so that I can add labels from special bottles that we enjoy.  I actually had to take this down from where it was already gracing our lush decor (heh, "lush," get it?  'Cause we're a couple of lushes here).

Thank you so much for everything, Kate.  I feel so lucky!  I always seem to get the best swap partners.  Smiley  I love it all - thank you, Kate!

Wow, "most perfect swap package"...I don't know how to handle it...I'm grinning like an idiot...

I'm so happy it fits all of your art stuff so well.  I remember those huge stupid pads from art classes.  They're cumbersome and annoying.  Hooray for being the only one in class with an appropriate bag!

Things I learned from this swap: my sewing machine is lame, sewing machine needles break really easily, and it sucks to have broken sewing machine needles flying around your house.  Also it hurts when you punch a sewing machine because it doesn't want to sew vinyl.
