2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / skirt from a 30 year old coat :) on: August 18, 2007 01:49:38 PM
when we moved two years ago i found this liner from a long coat my mom had when my 30 year old brother was a baby. my mom saw it and said "eww we still have that?? throw it away!" but i didnt, i made this skirt instead! no before pic but it was about knee length, the body part was the plaid and the arm were the pink satin-y stuff. basicaly i just cut off the top part and the zipper, sewed up the front and made it the back and added a waist band from the sleeves. i didnt feel like doing a zipper or buttons so its kinda hard to get on and off, but i like it. the plaid is like a really wooly flannel so its really warm (duh it was a coat) for a skirt, i cant wait to wear it this winter when its freezing outside.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Sailor skirt on: August 18, 2007 01:44:52 PM
i loooove sailor buttons but i couldnt find any sailor pants/skirts/shorts i like that well that werent outrageously priced so i made this. i am so happy with it, its definitely the best thing i've made so far and i didnt even have a pattern. the fabric was left over from some pajamma pants i made for my sister a while ago so all i had to buy was the buttons. i needed some help with the front/flap so i got on craftster and found this:

my sister just gave me a pull-over sweater, its really cute but everytime i look at it i cant help but think it'd look much better as a button up.
what would happen if i cut it down the front? would it all unravel??

9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / a few ideas... on: May 17, 2004 07:23:05 PM
these arent very crafty, just a few ideas to make a bedroom/living room a little more exciting.
my bedroom is kind of vintage-y, and i have a wooden lamp but i couldnt find a lamp shade that would go so i just threw an old brown cowboy hat on it. it looks pretty cool.
or if you have a beach-y/tropical theme but a small space put a couple blow-up rafts around instead of a couch or chairs
