I am trying to make a similiarish dress to this. I bought a dress at the salvation army which i fitted, and I bought cloth and the thingy... you no... (i totally no what I'm talking about!) what tutus are made out of? Ya that. Any ideas how i should make it? My dad was thinking to sew the two cloths together then ruffle it, but are there any other ideas? Any patterns I could follow? Any help would be great! Thanks!
PS sorry for the pic which doesn't show the whole dress. If you watch the What are you waiting for Music Video by Gwen stefani you can get an idea.
63  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: dog costume ideas needed !!! on: October 20, 2005 10:15:34 PM
Last year my dog Coco (as shown in pic) was a fairy. My dad did these really gorgeous wings and he had little antennas. The wings were made out of coat hangers and thin crepe-ish paper. He's going to be a cowboy this year, with a bandana and cowboy hat. I want him to have chaps and a pistol, but that might be pushing it  Cheesy Maybe a pirate (with an eye patch but also unpleasntness and a 'wooden' leg (cardboard) or a beach dog (sunglasses, towel, umbrella etc.) Sorry I don't have any other ideas!

66  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Earth/ Air/ Fire/ Water Costumes on: October 15, 2005 10:00:51 PM
This brings back memories! when i was 8 I think, my family all dressed up as an element. I was earth, my dad air, my mom water and my brother fire. My dad made these really cool staff things (we weren't really THE elements, more like witches or whatever for the element) were he stuck a flashlight in a plastic thinnish pipe, and put a globe glassy thing. We covered the globe with thin paper and wrapped crepe paper around the pipe. When u turned on the light, it was all glowy and cool! I'mmainly just rambling, so I don't think I'll be of much help  Roll Eyes

LOL! i forgot to add, the doll that i painted the face, i did the hair. It was all sad and tangled, but now it's slightly better. The problem for me is I hate hand stitching and i don't have a sewing machine. That is a problem when doing crafts.

This was about a year ago, but my friend was visiting from out of town, and we decided to attack barbie dolls!! First, with much amusement we wiped the pink lipstick and baby blue eyes of the plastic thing. We did this with nail polish remover, if memory serves me correctly. Then we used the thinnest brushes i could find and painted faces on them again! I no my doll is not very creative, and actually looks (somewhat) like an original. I'm sure people with more creative minds would do wonderful stuff with great precision. Then, we found a pair of my old tights (man i loved them!) and took some string and needles and sewed dresses right on em! Later I also made a marilyn monroe type top (from the famous blowing-up-from grate-thingy pose) later on (around december?) They are masterpieces I know (starts to cough) but i just thought I could post em and other people would try similar techniques! I bet people would do wicked stuff paint on barbie's face!  Well here ya go, the pics!
this I did after my friend left. Sorry its sorta blurry  here's a full shot of the doll I did! Yes the face. I could lsit a lot of things that need fixing... And the Marilyn Monroe top.
I know, a thirteen year old with barbie dolls. Mainly they sit at the bottom of my closet in a box. I should donate them, but i'm a pack rat. I can't bare to part with something holding so many memories.

70  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / under a minute headbands! first post! :) *added pics* on: October 15, 2005 11:24:03 AM
You know for school how you need to cover your books? Usually people will buy those stretchy book covers that go for about $1.00 or so at Back-to-School stores. Well, if you have found no need for them anymore, you can just cut them up and create stretchy headbands!! Even though the edge is sorta not good quality, I'm sure those very crafty and good at sewing people would be able to find away. I can't find my camera, so I guess everyone is left to there imaginations... You may be very confused by what I'm saying, but i promise im not insane. Edit: I found the camera!
the desk wearing hedbandmy head yay!
