West Hollywood Park is adding a fun craft class entitled 'For the Love of Craft' to its Recreation Programs, led by yours truly!  Shocked The classes take place 1 Saturday a month, beginning March 16th. I know we crafters often have projects that because of various distractions, we haven't been able to finish. This class will finally give you that opportunity and you'll spend time with other creative people like you. The class is structured so that you are able to bring in your own project to work on, but also have the opportunity to do a craft-of-the-day each session. The price is a reasonable $25, materials included. You can read more about it and register at: www.weho.org/recreation

Hope you can join us!! Smiley
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Oh, Doctor Who Christmas Tree! (Mega Pic Heavy) on: December 03, 2012 11:47:12 PM
I've been planning a Doctor Who themed Christmas tree, since last Christmas when I found a BLUE tree on clearance at Wal-Mart. The minute I saw it I knew what  wanted to do with it.

Of course, I procrastinated all year long and ended up furiously making ornaments since Thanksgiving week. I wanted the tree to have a vintage feel to it, so the ornaments I made were not so contemporary looking and I tried to pay tribute to Nine, Ten, and Eleven, but without actually picturing any of the characters.

I am in love with how it turned out. My only regret is that the tree is only 3 feet tall Sad

There were quite few steps to this ornament.
I drew and cut out the foam stamp of the Dalek, then stamped the image on fabric. I embroidered next and added the finishing touches, like the ribbon.

These mini frames are actually made with hot glue on cardstock and then I antiqued them using acrylic paint.

I made some vintage inspired ornaments with book pages, ribbon, and some stickers I got from GetGlue.com

What would a Doctor Who themed tree be without a Tardis? This is the tree topper and just needs the light added on top.
I cut the entire thing from an old board book, assembled it, and painted it with acrylics.

Thanks so much for looking!

Here's another Tardis wallet I finished recently. I think I found a new obsession.

Yes, use Mod Podge if you want your wallet all sticky when it gets warm out. Then every fuzzy in your bag will attach itself to your wallet. Sorry I don't have an ideal solution, but whenever anyone says "Mod Podge It!" I just have to intervene.

Haha! Your disdain for Mod Podge is palpable, understandable, and hilarious!

I totally didn't Mod Podge it!

KrazyKitty, Love, love, love it. You did a great job on the wallet. Any chance you could share your stencil???  Wink

I actually used building plans for a life size Tardis here:http://tardisboard.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tbg&action=display&thread=1756
I just scaled them to fit the size of my wallet. I figured, why reinvent the wheel, when these were perfectly drawn with the right proportions.

Very cool! I know a lot of people who love Dr. Who (I think it's pretty cool too, but am still kind of new to it, so don't entirely get all of it's awesomeness yet). So I shared it on my facebook page (hope you don't mind).

Thanks so much for all the advice and great compliments. I decided to go with the Krylon spray and it seemed to do the job. Don't worry, Cloud Walkin Crafts, You'll soon learn all of the awesomeness that is Doctor Who. I am quite obsessed.

I was shocked and a mess when I met Noel Clarke a couple of weeks ago, who just by chance happened to come to my job!!! He lives in London, but was in LA. What a lucky/crazy coincidence!
