1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Pop Art pillow on: May 04, 2008 05:37:01 PM
This is a pillow I made for a friend who is a big Roy Lichtenstein fan.

I'm pretty happy with it, but I really wished I would have lined the embroidery so you didn't see the black and white checks through it. It drives me bonkers everytime I see it. Argh.

2  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Our Lady of Guadalupe bag on: May 04, 2008 05:01:47 PM
So, I got this free bag at an early childhood education conference. Like most stuff having to do with early childhood education, it had a picture on it obviously designed by adults, but made to look like it was done by children. Here it is:

Totally lame. There's no way I'm carrying that around. So, I decide that I will cover that dumb picture up and turn a totally lame free bag into a super awesome free bag:

Our Lady is from the Dias de los Muertos pack and the candles are my own very intricate design. Here's a closeup:

Yay!

Thanks, you guys. Viva Morrissey!
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / I would go out tonight, but I haven't got a STITCH to wear: Morrissey t-shirt! on: June 13, 2007 12:28:29 PM
I had front row tickets to Morrissey a couple of weekends ago and in honor of that most righteous event, I decided I was going to embroider a shirt with his heavenly face right across my bosom. Here it is:

I transferred the pattern onto a white piece of fabric, threw some fusing on the back and then kind of appliqued that piece onto the shirt and then embroidered through both the white fabric and t shirt. I say kind of appliqued because I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and just kind of stitched the thing on. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. This is me wearing it:

I know it looks a little off-center, but a quick tug of the shirt puts him right back in the middle. It will probably not remain a t-shirt. I think I'm gonna do a little banner underneath that says "Morrissey" and then frame it and stick up on the wall, much to the chagrin of my non-Morrissey loving husband. Any other suggestions?

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: PROM: Themes and Crafty Ideas needed!!!! on: March 28, 2007 11:38:15 AM
You might be interested in going here: http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/ . It allows you to take any picture and make it huge, then you can print it out on ordinary printer paper. It's a little time consuming to put all the pages together, but it's pretty cheap and you can get a really good overall effect. Maybe some pictures of the Eiffel Tower, The Arc De Trimophe,  -- the whole Parisian skyline! Good luck!
