1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Handspun & Handcrafts Swap! Signups CLOSED; Send by Nov 6 on: October 26, 2006 02:51:57 PM
While I'm certainly not claiming anything remotely like being "alive" (What is this alive thing you are all referring too?Huh),  I am here. I started my swap partners yarn and ran out of fiber! Then I found out the fiber shop is closed for a MONTH! I'll be working something else out for her. I'm sure it will be just a fluffy-lovely as the first fiber.

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Ongoing Yarn Swap - anyone interested on: September 06, 2006 04:11:16 PM
Will you only be allowed to swap a single ball at a time, or will it be like some of the other ongoing swaps where each person gets a certain number of claims?
4  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Fiber Friday Aug 25 on: August 25, 2006 03:52:16 PM
My contribution has actually been completed for a while, but this was the first chance I've had to get pics and post it. This is 2 oz of angora/silk/wool from Wildmeadow angoras.  I'm pretty proud of it, and though it's not perfectly even, it ranges from lace to fingering weight, It IS balanced, and it's almost 300 yds!!!!  Now if I can just find something to make out of it!

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: August Handspun Swap Gallery on: August 22, 2006 08:26:54 PM
I received from fyberduck yesterday. Talk about jaw dropping gorgeous!

On the right is 100 yards of handpainted baby alpaca.

On the left is 38 yards of kid mohair locks with a merino/alpaca/silk binder.

I am leaving my husband and marrying this yarn. Is that legal??  THank you so much!!!!!!
6  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: selling my handspun at a craft fair - display ideas? on: August 22, 2006 03:01:17 PM
Uh Oh. I'm hoping to do the christmas fair where I work. I better get some while I can then!

Faithin, where was yours? You aren't too far from me and if you have another I'd love to go.

The local spinners and weavers guild had a display at the fourth of july fair in town. They did exactly what you originally though. Baskets full of wool and silk and alpaca yarn. They tipped some over and had the yarn spilling out of it. Then they had those wire cubes set up for books, more yarn, fibers and gadgets.

It was lovely and gathered quite a crowd.

Plus, the wire cubes are on sale at Target right now Smiley

He did start making pretenses at eating her.

Oddly, I'm not sure if he was threatening her or coming on to her.  Wink
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: lace stole pattern? on: August 22, 2006 04:15:17 AM
have you seen the Candle Flame Shawl at Knitpicks? It's free, rectangular aand looks quite a bit like peacock feathers. I'm seriously considering it for my mom for christmas or her birthday.

10  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / First needle felted object! Dragon on: August 20, 2006 09:02:30 AM
My kids named him Retardo the Dragon. He's not too pretty, but I think I did ok. Especially since this was the first time I tried it and I was completely on my own. I gave him to my mother and she adores him. Here he is asserting his dominance over Mabel the Stash Sheep.
