Oh yeah... here is "Ollie":

here he is "incognito" - the paparazzi is always on his tail you know.

12  Re: Postcards for the picky in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by OpheliasLily on: November 22, 2009 04:25:49 PM
ahhhh! I love these! I wish I had a pen-pal like you! I just moved overseas and postcards are the same here too. Though occationally we have some choice:

see, if you LOVE Germany, then there is a card for you. Not so sure about it yet? Well my friend - simply mail the "like Germany" card.
OK - so you see what I mean.
Thank you so much for showing us your cards. You inspired me to have a go at it too!

13  ''petits oiseaux sur le lustre'' - Wall Art in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by OpheliasLily on: September 20, 2009 05:21:04 AM
So, I just moved into a basement room with blank, white walls. My landlords said "NO NAILS or PAINT!!!" So, I faced an old conundrum: "how to decorate the stark walls when I can't hang anything... and I have no money?". This is an issue I am sure most of us have faced. Inspired by  Lexer's http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=50495.0 and Showmehelen's  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=87155.msg821538#msg821538  and many others here on craftster, I set to work. Here's what I came up with:

and for the front door:

I call them "Mes petits oiseaux et un lustre"       OR          "Death by onethousand cuts" - ha ha

I want to  make some more for the other walls, but I am unsure of what to do next that runs with the same theme. Any Ideas? Comments Greatly appreciated!  Thanks for Looking!

Sorry... I  forgot to mention - the birds and chandelier on both the wall and on the door are made out of brown butcher-paper. I affixed the chandelier to the wall with masking-tape and used a watersoluble dissapearing gluestick to attach them to the glas on the door(so that they could be clearly seen from either side).

14  DAY OF THE DEAD chest of drawers help! in Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions by OpheliasLily on: June 22, 2009 09:51:20 PM
So here she is, the chest of drawers I have had for the entirety of my life. In fact, my Mother once told me it was my changing table too (okay, TMI, sorry).

Any who, I have always liked how sturdy it is, and the 'bones' of it are alright too (though a bit dull). However, its UGLY!

So, here is my question:
I wanted to paint a Catrina on the front. similar to this one: http://www.hospiceslo.org/events/diadelosmuertos/img/calavera_de_la_catrina.gif
but I am unsure about how best to go about it. I want to use my acrylic paints (to save $$$), but I liked the idea of staining the entire thing espresso first.

Oh, and did I mention that I plan on mosaic-ing the top with stained glass and bits of mirror?

So, is it even possible to paint acrylic over wood stain?

15  Paisley Yoga-Mat Bag - w/ pocket! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by OpheliasLily on: February 10, 2009 05:59:35 PM

So I was recently enrolled in a gym membership and have been taking yoga. Needless to say, I AM IN LOVE!!! Now that many of my thoughts revolve around yoga, proper posture, and correct breathing, I thought I ought to make a bag for my yoga mat. So, without further ado.... may I present...the mat! (modeled by my younger sis)

Goofy Little thing, isn't she.

The pocket:

and a swatch of the fabric:

The fabric was "red-tag" and quite affordable. Its linen-ish with gold embroidered paisleys and clear sequins.

I found the tutorial on a great site called "Pink of Perfection". It had a hilarious how-to video. The only thing I changed was to add a pocket for my keys and gym card.

Questions? Comments?

16  Super Mod Sewing Box - Loads of Pics - edit : Tut. Added! in Completed Projects by OpheliasLily on: February 06, 2009 10:15:28 AM
Howdy All!

I have been meaning to post this idea for a while now, but up until recently I have only had a crappy cell to take pictures with - but not anymore!
As I am sure many of you do, I had an ugly old sewing box that had been given to me eons ago by my Baba. Well, I got tired of looking at it and was about to throw it away when I realized "Hey! That's not in the spirit of Craftster!" So.....

From: (taken with cell phone - sorry)

An Inside Shot:

And the Pin-cushion:

Ouch!

Any-who, I reccommend "reupholstering" sewing boxes to you all - its a fun quick job and you'll end up with a better one than you'll find at Joanns!

*this is only my second post - so, if you have any suggestions Please do let me know!*

17  Rockin' baby tops in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by OpheliasLily on: January 08, 2009 04:48:26 PM

Alright ladies and gents, prepare yourselves, this is my very first post! Don't be surprised if I've messed it up a bit - also be prepared for poor picture quality (I used a handy). Now that that's out of the way, check out the baby clothes! I have several friends/relatives ready to have their first offspring (starting any day now), so I have been preparing myself for the multiple showers I will be forced to attend. Though many have registered (which I find a little tacky) I have decided to make them their pressies instead. So, without further ado....

(for twin girls - front & back images)

and...

so, enough jaw-wagging. Let me know what ya think - I could use some help, like - what is a paint I can use for the lettering that won't dry so stiff? I used the cool freezer paper technique. Thanks for looking!
