1  Blythe's New Apron in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by OpheliasLily on: July 14, 2012 09:19:26 AM

I just got a Blythe Clone and have been trying to sew clothes for her from patterns but to no avail (I attempted the Puccini A-line Dress 6 times without success!). I finally decided to take a break from pre-designed patterns and make my own!
I have a ton of Mexican Oilcloth and Vinyl Scraps about the house. So, with that in mind, I set out to make a mini-apron using these materials and some tiny copper grommets I found at Michael's. I have made and sold life sized versions, but this was the second Blythe sized apron I made (the first was sent to the marvelous StacySews for all of her help).
        So, without further ado:

I used snaps for around the neck on the second try and added superglue to the mini grommets for extra hold. I can give a basic tute for anyone interested. but it is pretty easy to figure out.

Let me know what you think! Thanks for looking!

2  Cigar Box to Treasure Box for Jewelry & Trinkets in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by OpheliasLily on: February 11, 2012 11:38:59 AM
Alright, so this project is neither jewelry, nor a trinket, but it is for jewelry and trinkets. It is certainly not a great example of my best work, and looking back I wish I had made some changes, but I thought I'd post it anyhow to that you fellow craftsters may use the idea and take it to a higher level.

So here it is:

I first spray painted the top black. Then I used blue masking tape and covered the top with a light mesh material. Over that I covered the top with some scrap lace - making sure that both the mesh and the lace were held taught. I covered the sides with more blue masking tape, and then lightly sprayed the top with gold spraypaint. After letting dry - Voila! I added a balsa wood oval and a chipboard fleur de lis. I am sure you guys could think of something prettier.

And the inside:

The inside is covered in some scrap burnt-orange velvet. I used the wood dividers from the cigar box to make the sections to separate sections for different types of jewelry, trinkets, and charms. The rest you can see.

Cigar boxes are often sold at good tobacconists, not so much at headshops. I would LOVE to see what you come up with if you are so inclined as to make one!!!  Ideas would also be GREATLY appreciated for my next one!

p.s. sorry about the poor picture quality.

3  re-vamped thrift store letter "E" in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by OpheliasLily on: January 23, 2012 01:05:16 PM
I was given a simple, black, plastic plastic letter "E" from my cousin a while ago, and stashed it away. I recently found it again and decided it needed a make over. I spray-painted it in a tiffany blue. Then I cut out little sparrows from some left over, thick card stock and spray-painted them metallic gold. After it all dried, I used a gluegun to attach the birdies, and voila! A perfect gift for my cousin's daughter "Eden". Now I collect letters everywhere. I'd love input and ideas on future letter projects from you all! Thx!

4  Re: How to make a French Memo Board (tutorial) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by OpheliasLily on: January 23, 2012 12:32:20 PM
Thank you so much for posting this tutorial! My mother had given me a french memo board, but I hated the fabric and ribbon color. I followed your instructions - first removing the original ribbon and covered the existing board with velvet burnt-orange fabric that matched my curtains. I used black velvet ribbon and black buttons, and it turned out great. Thanks again! I couldn't have done it without your tute! Just hit - "this rocks"!

Here's the finished project.

5  Pressed Seaweed Wall Art in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by OpheliasLily on: March 10, 2010 08:27:32 PM
So for my birthday, I was treated to a lovely little trip to the pacific shore. The ocean is my favorite place in the world, so I decided to make a little memento of my time spent around San Diego. Here is what I came up with:
[/b]

one small piece of giant kelp

four pieces from different type of seaweed

I have to give points to thelastkodama for sharing her lovely little seaweed cards (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=337662.0).

6  Re: Dachshund Lovers Swap *CLOSED* SO 01/21/2010 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by OpheliasLily on: January 22, 2010 12:58:08 PM
My husband made this a few years ago.  It's a little hard to read since the size has been reduced but it's still funny:

this is such a riot Vern! I have got to make one of Ollie. Public urination indeed!

Ollie and I feel so lucky! We just got our package from Zen_Crafter! We have spent all evening trying on clothes and eating cookies. What a life! This package certainly makes up for that morning bath Ollie had to suffer through.

Check out the loot:

Ollie was very curious about the box...

He was happy to try things on. I think he looks like quite the tough-guy in this muscle-tee.

I was thrilled to see that Zen _Crafter had made sweaters. Poor Ollie has been so cold during our long, bleak winter.

here is another fetching model (no pun intended!)

and a lovely corduroy number. Very nice!

and here he is again wearing a Missouri bandanna. He is also eating some of the treats Zen_Crafter sent. They were little hearts and bones - Ollie tried to eat them all!

Here he is again - this time begging for "just one more" cookie. The treats were a BIG hit here. As for me, I especially love this day of the dead bandanna.

Here are all the other bandannas. How nice to finally have some that fit such a small dog. We can't wait for warmer weather  - Ollie will be wearing these at the Biergartens!

Not pictured are the treats Zen_Crafter baked (Ollie is nuts for them). She also kindly included the recipe so I can make them too (and they are vegetarian - Woo-Hoo!). a BIG thanks to my partner for all the amazing goodies - and thanks to Casey for putting this all together. Happy Spring everyone!

I agree - more doxie pics!
Here is the "Halloweenie" making faces for the camera. I think it looks like he is muttering spells under his breath (most likely, "why does Eli insist on putting hats, wigs and such on me?!?")

Checking out the thread of this swap always brightens my day! Teapotdnky - we would love to have you and your "Dingus" - he looks so much like Ollie! Rocky, Beatrice, and the "Chiweenie" are so cute! Jocko is just about the coolest looking dachshund I have ever seen. All the rest are darling as well of course!

ps. Hey Vern - Pikey is a doll! Is he named after the Pikeys in "Snatch"? - Also, love the retro lady avatar!
