1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Anyone interested in a Tute for a Sally NMBC costume? on: June 27, 2006 08:30:23 AM
Hi all. I am so glad that I am not the only one who is worrying about Halloween in the end of June.
I was thinking about my costume from last year- which was Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and I thought there might be interest in it here more than anywhere else out there.  Wink  It was kinda easy to make and I would be willing to post a tutorial if there is any interest. I don't want to waste bandwidth if no one is interested, but I will go for it if anyone wants me to.

2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Opinions Pleeeese ? on: June 06, 2006 08:12:15 AM
Ok, I am making this for a friend who is crazy for Sufjan Stevens andI am by no means an artist, so I thought the at board would be a great place to seek advice. My question is - should I put some stuff in the negative space or leaves it alone?

I kinda like the negative space effect, but I also have ideas for stuff I could put in it. What do you more experienced folks think?

Any advice or criticism would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / This would be an excellent project idea for Craftsters! on: May 23, 2006 08:40:59 AM
I was on Postcrossing and someone mentioned this ...
http://www.toyvoyagers.com/index.php?a=search
I immediately thought of Craftster and all of the really great handmade  toys, dolls and animals I have seen on here.
Would it not be the coolest thing for some of the Craftsters to start something similar with handmade travelers?
I am in love with the idea and think that we've got what it takes. What do you think?
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Green Day T Shirt to dress Recon - Opinions please!! on: February 14, 2006 05:37:15 PM
Okay, so I made this little dress for my little punkette. I found this men's XL vintage GD T shirt and HAD to get it for her but it was WAY WAY too big... so what to do? DRESS!!  The only thing that is new on here is the black fake leather strips with the gromets in them. (I wanted to have something to tie in with the "bondage" theme in the graphic on the shirt)
Front of dress - (she likes to be silly when I take her picture)

This is the back of the dress...

And here is a closer shot of the top of the dress - with her being a sillyhead!

You cannot tell too well in the pix, but the sleeves were from a mesh top - so they are "net" and the skirt portion is from a really tiny girl's skirt. It was super easy to do and I would be willing to post a tute if anyone wants. Please let me know what  you think - and you don't have to go easy on me - I'm a biggirl.  Cheesy THANKS!!
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Green Day "Jersey" stencil dress - opinions PLEASE! Imgs on: February 09, 2006 07:22:09 AM
This is my very first project posted - so please be gentle with me.  Shocked
My daughter is big into Green Day right now - so I wanted to make her a GD themed gifty for Valentine's Day. I didn't want to make anything too literal - like a shirt that says "Green Day" or something like that & she always wears skirts and such anyway...so... I found this cool kinda mod~esque/ cheerleader dress at Goodwill and stenciled the American Idiot heart grenade on the front and then made the back like a team jersey with the name "Whatsername" (from the album) and used her birth year as her "number".

That is the front.

I wanted to keep the paint looking "motted" because that is how it looks in all of the artwork for the album and I wanted to make it look "authentic".
I would _really_ appreciate anyfeedback from some Green Day girlies before Valentine's Day - because I do not want to give it to her and have her not like it.  Cry    That would just embarass both of us. Is the theme / execution cool?Should she get it  - or should it go back to Goodwill?
Thanks in advance!
