1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Luna Lovegood's cardigan.... on: July 18, 2007 01:15:13 PM
another plea for the pattern and pics when you get it figured out.  it's too funny that so many people noticed luna's sweater right away  Grin  all in all, i thought it was a good movie.  my daughter's a bit of a book-purist and didn't like it.  apparently she would've liked a 5 hour movie better  Roll Eyes

Yay! I really hoped other people would want to make it, too! Cheesy

I'm covering the buttons right now, and I swear I'm shaking because I'm so excited! Cheesy

2  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Charity Blitzing 2007 - Anyone Interested? on: February 08, 2007 12:12:13 PM
i'm a slacker and am just finishing up 3 snuggles for my local shelter.

on the upside, i decided to make one of the ugly quilt sleeping bags for new mexico (someone posted a link earlier i believe) as a way to bust out some odd fabric i doubt i'll use  Grin

i've started my 13yo knitting recently and the first project she wants to do-a scarf for pine ridge rez.  we went out last night and bought the yarn which she paid for herself.

i'm not sure which i'm more touched by-her charity crafting effort or that i've created another yarn addict or that i didn't have to support her habit  Wink

Have we decided which area of the country; specifically which Stand Up for Kids we will sponsor?  I am agreeable with the majority.  I will also agree that areas hit the hardest with winter storms would be the best choice.

I think I will make scarf and hat sets.

i think hats and scarves would be a good idea.  weeping_cloud mentioned new mexico had a hard winter.  i think that would be a good idea since when i think of places needing winter supplies, the southwest doesn't really come to mind.  so they might be less prepared than other areas.

Everyone take a look and we can decide which area of the USA that has a Stand Up for Kids Organization to support.  I am willing to go with the majority.  It's all about helping these Street Kids.

maybe a bit early to get into this, but i'd suggest someplace in colorado that's been hit hard this winter.  or new orleans?  i didn't check to see if there was a chapter down there, but i know the rest of the city is still recovering.

i've spotted patterns for 2 needle mittens that i might try.  i just finished a pair of 2 needle socks for Dulaan Knit-a-long that went together very easily   Cheesy

my daughter (also 7th grade) keeps asking me what she can do to help out the different charities.  i've just taught her basic knitting, so maybe start a scarf or blanket squares?  those are fairly forgiving items.  i might put her to cutting out fabric for snuggle blankets this weekend.   Grin

these look so cute!  i don't normally venture into sewing/felt, but i have a fairly decent sized matryoshka collection already, i might try it.

Thanks!!

jp197012 - the expression on that stuffed animal's face cracks me up! It's like he's thinking, "Oh my god - what the hell is she doing to that yarn!" LOL!!

hee, hee.  i know.  actually that's pretty much everyone's reaction to "it's going to be a sock"   Roll Eyes

that's rufus, the visitor i'm hosting for another week or so.  just tryin' to make him feel part of the fun  Grin
