1  Re: Fiber Friday (11 Aug 06) in Spinning: Completed Projects by wealleatpasta on: August 11, 2006 07:02:50 AM
I love fiber friday!

Faerietail - I love the textures of your yarns! They look wonderful!

Pixiefarts - The colors in your fiber are fabulous! What method/dyes do you use?

Here's what I've been doing this week that I didn't already post in my post earlier this week:

The first one is called Purple Popsicles. When I was dying my fiber, I wanted something moodier and brooding, but I think I am doomed to always spin up cheery yarns!

The Second one is The Green Giant Gets a Soft Side, and is soo soo soft.

2  Yarn porn: Green-Eyed Monster and some starry madness! in Spinning: Completed Projects by wealleatpasta on: August 08, 2006 02:54:54 PM
I've been spinning like crazy and am so proud of my creations!

The first is called Green-Eyed monster and is a wonderfully colored two-ply.

The second is called I'm Glad I Hitched My Apple Wagon to your Star and is inspired by the Boy Least Likely To song. The best part about this yarn is I spun it up with some shiny gold nylon fibers I got from HelloYarn.com, but I can't for the life of me get the sparkly fiber to show up in the pictures. Do any of you wonderful fiber photographers have any tricks?

Here are sparkle-less photos:

Action shot! whoooshhhh

and thank you to all your wonderful spinners on craftster, new and experienced, who inspire me so much! There is so much creatvity here!

My mom's friend let me borrow her spinning wheel indefinitely and I love it. I've been spining up a storm, but only took picture of one completed yarn.* More will be coming up on my etsy shop though!

*EDIT-Took one more picture just now!

This one is called strawberry sunrise

And Chickfactor, named after a lovely Belle and Sabastian song

All the posts so far are SO gorgeous!

I've been working on this one off and on all week. Presenting, Candy Mountain! I just put it up on my etsy shop.

Has anyone else noticed that etsy uploaded pictures never look as good as flickr uploaded pictures? Maybe it is just me.

7  Re: second real try(s) at spinning! in Spinning: Completed Projects by wealleatpasta on: May 20, 2006 06:58:11 AM
Thank you for all your nice words!

I just finished this one yesterday and felt silly putting it in a new topic, but I love it so much! I had a hard time getting a picture to both accurately display the colors and do the colorwork justice, but this is the best I got!

9  First spun yarn!!! in Spinning: Completed Projects by wealleatpasta on: May 02, 2006 01:53:18 PM
Well not really, I spun a few yards of some lumpy yarn  I received for free for a test drive, but then I pulled out the free brown wool I had received from the site on the mill ends topic and spun away!

I am so proud! It turned out much better than I expected, and I must sing many praises to http://www.dettasspindle.com/ for my wonderful beginner's spindle. She was so helpful throughout the whole transaction! I may dye this bit of yarn with kool-aid to get a more interesting color (i love knitting with colors!) but am undecided as I really like it as it is.

I can't wait to spin more!

I am curious as to what most of you spinners usually do with the two ends of the skein? I had them tied together when I hung them to dry, but do you usually leave them loose or tied up?

10  First Scarf!!! in Knitting: Completed Projects by wealleatpasta on: November 02, 2005 12:49:35 PM
I was inspired by Craftster to knit when I came upon this site via google when looking for something to make for my iPod. So I went out and bought some yarn and a book "Knitting Pretty" with fabulous beginner's projects, and I made a ton of bookmarks/rectangles until I was ready to tackle my first project: a scarf!

It's really nothing special, especially compared to all the wonderful things people make on this site, but I am so proud of making something useful! I used Lion's Brand Wool-ease to make it and when I was done with it, I used my dog's brush to pull whatever wool was in there out and disguise some of the garter stitch.
