781  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Assorted Free Patttern Links on: November 12, 2005 10:28:18 AM
Free pattern for 2-needle mittens by the creator of the 'Clapotis' scarf. Look around the site too...there are other free patterns as well:

I like the Boyfriend Scarf in Last Minute Knitted Gifts. Check the errata on the (purlsoho) website though, because I hear there are a lot of errors in the pattern.

I also think this is a pretty nice pattern..and simple: http://www.frugalhaus.com/scripts/giftscarf.asp

And a lot of people seem to make the Irish Hiking Scarf for the men in their lives too: http://www.helloyarn.com/irishhikingcarf.htm

I belong to one in Ann Arbor, MI. We meet at Zingerman's Next door on Tuesdays and it's lots of fun.
784  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Kate Gilbert 'Gifted' Mittens on: November 12, 2005 08:54:13 AM
These were knit up in Knitpicks Panache and Rowan Cork. The mittens done in Panache are for my mom and sisters for Christmas. The rosy-colored cork mittens are for my MIL and the fun green ones (with the scarf) are for me!

These are all beautiful. I'm going to make a couple for Christmas gifts and one for a knit exchange. What yarns have all of you used? I was thinking about using Knit Picks Sierra.

Those are gorgeous. Do you think it's too difficult for someone who has never used circulars?
787  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What is your knitting bugaboo? on: November 11, 2005 06:39:55 AM
Everybody who hates weaving in tails should try Knitting Pure and Simple patterns because they are pretty much all knit in the round and have no seams. I have a couple projects from them that I am waiting to start.

Knit one purl one ribbing. I'm a beginning knitter though, so I'm sure something else will replace this in the future. So far I haven't had to weave in many ends or sew up big projects because everything I;ve done has been pretty small.

I got mine---copper like a penny (Also known as awful orange-y brown color). I gave it away at my local Stitch n; bitch last night. It would look good mixed with the right yarns I think..as a cute trim.
