21  Re: Knit/felted sweater bag without knitting! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by tejer on: April 14, 2006 06:21:29 AM
I made a few of these too. The pink one is a sweater that shrunk up so nicely that it became a purse. The gray one was a man's vest and is more shopping bag size. I made these for the recycled/earth day swap and I embroidered them with leftover thread from another project.

These are the bags I sent to kiki_eks. They are made from recycled sweaters that have been felted with help from this site:
http://www.canadianliving.com/canadianliving/client/en/Crafts/DetailNews.asp?idnews=233920

I also embroidered them with some embroidery floss I had left over from another project. My mom helped me sew them up since I don't have a sewing machine and don't really know how to use one! Smiley

I made these for a recycled/ earth day swap out of old felted sweaters and embroidered them to give them a little more pizazz.

24  Re: Love your wedding? Then show off your photos here! in Weddings and Bridal Showers by tejer on: April 02, 2006 07:05:19 AM
A couple of my Korean wedding pics. It was in a wedding plaza, so not crafty at all. It was a lot of fun though and so convenient to have people doing my hair and make-up for me. My biggest accomplishment was to have them keep my make-up somewhat understated so I didn't look like I was wearing a mask! Smiley

25  my first embroidery--flowers on a handkerchief in Needlework: Completed Projects by tejer on: April 02, 2006 06:27:35 AM
I bought a Leisure Arts book yesterday called 'teach yourself to embroider' and this is the first result.

It was definitely a learning experience-I mastered the 'lazy daisy' and stem stitch, but definitely goofed up on the bullion knot and whipped spider web. The good news is that after thinking about it last night, I'm pretty sure I could do all of them now. I think I'm on my way to another crafty obsession!

Speaking of embroidery, does anyone have the book 'The New Crewel'? I'd like to see some finished projects from it. It looks so cute.

I like the bath mitt idea a lot for a gift too. Unfortunately my hubby also liked it, so the original recipient isn't going to be getting it!

Here is a substitute though that I just finished today---a soap saver (or soap sack) to make your soap last longer.
