I'm in the process of making the "under the hoodie" from snb as well. I'm using Cascade 220 worsted yarn in a dark purple for the main color, pumpkin orange for the sleeves, and a fushia pink for the thin stripes. Cascade 220 knits up very nicely. I'm very happy with it so far.

I have to agree that the instructions for the pocket could be a little clearer. I think that the "separate skein of A" should be at "RS of front" instead of the "WS of front" as presently printed in the instructions. If you place the separate skein at the wrong side of the front, you aren't able to do the other rows after the first pick up row.

I'll post a pic as soon as I'm finished.
