21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Handmade Bird Swap, Sweat Shoppe Style! -- SEND OUT 4/30 on: April 12, 2009 09:43:07 PM
I'm busy finding alternatives to polyfill stuffing. I have a small wad but you can't really buy it here.

Any ideas for substitutes?

Eerika Valkonen, http://www.ragpets.com/2008/07/stuff-about-stu.html rips up old cotton sheets and uses them in strips to stuff her softies. I LOVE her stuff!

One prototype completed and now making notes on tweaking the others to fit each recipient's likes and such. I would like to keep with the "sweat shoppe style" theme, but personalize each one in some way(s). Havin' fun with it so far though. This is way more fun than doing my income taxes. Pretty certain I'll have to file for an extension as I obsess over this proctrastination project. Smiley

Impressive. I'm still in getting inspiration & research mode.

Thanks, Avesthel!

Let's give dragonmama until Thursday. If she's not back by then, we'll have everyone that would like to remain in the swap send you their info on Friday. Does that sound good to everyone?

Sounds good to me. I hope all is well with dragonmama.

A little late, but I just discovered this thread and also found this tutOWLrial by moonstitches. I didn't see it posted here yet. If it is, I apologize.

So apparently, I've been living under a rock within this great land called craftster. I have been away for a few years and just coming back to crafting and saw some amazing poppets in the finished works under the Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects where I saw nezbutt's %@#$^ amazing poppet as well as AlwaysInspired's. I started doing a search and now, here I am!

I've got a craft queue a mile long, but hope to get to this -along sooner than later. Thanks for sharing all the wonderful works, tips, ideas, etc. It's truly amazing (Sorry, I obviously need to expand my vocabulary).

Thanks again,
purlgurl

30  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My Coraline, soon to be sent off to my Coraline Mystery Box Swap Pal on: March 12, 2009 09:56:25 PM

She's one part of my project for a swap I'm doing that mylittle mochi: http://mylittlemochi.typepad.com/my_little_mochi/2009/02/swap-signup-is-open.html organized. we were to make mystery boxes inspired by the 50 that made it around to those "special bloggers" that were targeted as part of the Coraline viral marketing campaign they were doing before the release of Coraline. my little mochi set up a flickr group for participants and others to see the mystery boxes and contents sent around for the swap too: http://www.flickr.com/groups/coraline-mbs/. I've had a blast doing this and now that I'm finished, I'll have to hunt around for another swap to do. I created a flickr set of the Coraline in various stages of completion: http://www.flickr.com/photos/purlgurl/sets/72157614768369315/ There will be other images posted here once my swap pal receives her mystery box. I'm keeping a few things a secret until she receives it.
