Actually I am afraid it was way too small on my 21" head (hair included). I frogged it and will start over with the larger size and perhaps go up a needle size. Since I am not using the same yarn, I am sure that has something to do with it. Will keep playing with it... do you find the Blue Sky Alpaca to be itchy on your forehead? I have used the Plymouth Baby Alpaca grande and thought it was a little itchy. I have been lining my hats with a band of microfleece to elimate the itchies. Might have to schedule a trip to a different yarn store to fondle the Blue Sky Alpaca yarn.

Candice, sorry, well, mine looked small as well, but After i was done with ribbing, i simply tried it on. You can go up a size of needles, but it looks like the alpaca I have stretches a bit. So I continued. Also you may find alpaca itchy, but I like how soft it is, also people tend to be allergic to it, make sure you are not. It would be a bit challenging to sew the fleece lining, so you can cast on provisionally and after you are done with the hat, choose some lovely yarn (silk? cashmere?) to knit the inner band just in stockinette and sew it on the inside to provide you with necessary comfort.
