l know this topic is super old but l finally finished my survival kit for my best friend in time for her shower this past weekend thanks for all the inspiration and tips! my box was a hit and now everyone at the party wants to make one for their next wedding!

onto the pics:  her wedding was supposed to be super pink but as time went on it became more champagne with hints of pink so to make up for it, the colors of her bridal shower were hot pink, black and white.

so l found the perfect hot pink box at target that had black inside, incidentally, it was the only one left and l haven't seen one since. l really lucked out! stickers also came from target, the middle piece is a shrinky dink that l decorated myself by tracing a logo from one of my shirts



inside:  l crammed it too well to take everything out to take a picture of everything, so you just get a top view the hello kitty pouch is filled with feminine needs..



and a close up of the list:  unfortunately l used super glue instead of my favorite mod podge cause l thought it might be difficult to attatch the paper to the textured backing.. and it made the paper get all funky colored

so for christmas this year, my best friend requested a recipe box/book since she's getting married in April next year and she can't cook.. except for using the microwave on those quick tv dinners
taking inspiration from this recipe box made for the recipe swap awhile back, l tried to make my own mini kitchen. unfortch mine did not come out as cute, but she still enjoyed it!

onto the pictures!

top view. it's a bit plain, l couldn't find my glue gun so everything is attatched with massive amounts of mod podge! in my excitment to schlack everything together, l forgot to do the smaller details like painting in the stove top or adding little knobs


again pretty plain. the box l found didn't have a latch was extra tall to accomadate recipe cards, and l was too scared to try drawing in a stove window..


home made recipe cards. l bought a whole booklet of retro print cards that l cut down to size, then mod podged with plain paper so l could hand write out the recipe ingredients on the front, and the instructions on the back. l found all of my super easy recipes from the "help! my apartment has a kitchen" book (highly recommended for new chefs)


cute cardstock that l used to make the dividers. l bought really cute fabric that matches to make an apron with, but l ran out of time.. plus my sewing machine is BURIED under all sorts of craft supplies.. so now l think that will be her wedding shower gift


sample of one of the recipies. haha, she asked me why l mod podged both sides and it was partly so the front and back would match, but another reason would be the easy clean up of the cards! since l figure she'll get grease and what not on them, l don't want them to be ruined too easily. but it was a bit time consuming.. and l did put off the project for too long so l need to work on adding more cards to her box!

thanks for looking!! l had to wait until we finished our gift exchange before posting pics l also bought her this really cute weekly meal organizer that had retro print paper that was magnetic for the fridge. it was a really good idea, with space to plan out meals and a shopping list that tore off on the side! l should've bought one for myself while l was at it

sweets is so sweet! inside the album are pictures she took with her real camera along with the swap camera film so l could see what she was taking pictures of. here's an example of the inside, along with my favorite picture from the roll. this shows how brave she is for a swap package! l love swans, but l'm scared of big birds like this ever since l was little and a goose pecked my brother's knee cap cause he ran out of bread.. he was bruised for forever and a day after that!

l got my HUGE package from sweets today   l'll have to post pics of everything once l get the film developed but l can't wait to show you everything she sent me! talk about being spoiled!!!!! l got 2 frames, a mini owl mug from my wist, and the best raffle ticket bowl ever (also from my wist) along with a surprise hidden inside wonderfully soft and colorful yarn!! l'm being good however and not opening the yarn until l get the film developed so we'll all have to wait together to see what's inside it! but just as a teaser so everyone else can keep guessing like myself :

after putting off for so long, my friend called me up today to donate our hair for lock of love. the last time I donated was about 2 1/2 yrs ago, and my hair was just below my shoulder.
I have straight, as in super stick straight boring hair, and I had no clue what to do with it. I wanted to keep as much length as possible since my best friend is getting married in April and I'm going to be the maid of honor.. and long hair is my thing! so the stylist said that I should get slight layers, and that she would give me long bangs.. and this is what I ended up with. I feel very Rachel-esque circa 1st season of friends.  I'm not sure how I feel about it yet
the last time I donated, the guy who cut my hair took waaaaay more than the required 10 inches.. and this time the girl who did my hair took waaaay more than the guy before!! I think it was 15-16 inches   I think they just like trying to get as much hair as possible   at least it's for a good cause and it'll grow back

good? bad? it's hard to see the cut since my hair is just plain black.. at least I know my hair grows pretty fast so by wedding time, I'm hoping it will be mid backish.. probably shorter though

okay everyone get ready to swoon!!! I already wore my new skirt/earrings/necklace to work today and I got tons of compliments (and guilt trips about the package that I sent to sewpixie.. I'm working on a new package for her right now!!)

We agreed to do a good ole fashioned wist swap and here is what she chose from my large list



crochet animals!!! I only wish I knew how to crochet, and she was kind enough to make me 2 cute little critters!!

I never realized how hard it is to take a decent picture of etched glass before.. the words on the back are still hard to get a picture of, but it also might be cause I didn't do that great a job on them in the first place

so my friend is going to Vegas at the end of this month for a family friend's wedding, and when he told me it was going to be a Nightmare Before Christmas wedding.. well I told him I was going to crash the wedding! So to make up for my wedding crashing (I'm even invited to the bridal shower now!!) I personalized a pair of champagne glasses with Jack and Sally on the curly hill with the moon behind them. On the opposite side I tried my best to write their names, the date of the wedding and the location in the Nightmare font.
As you can see, I unfortunately don't have a proper camera at the moment, so these crap ass pictures are taken with my cell phone. :sigh: I figured I should try to be less selfish and give these to her tomorrow at her shower instead of waiting til the wedding to give them to her. I'm hoping that someone has a camera tomorrow so I can get better pictures




Anyways, I love them in real life, and maybe I'll make myself a pair!
