WOW-O-WOW! I just LOVE pleated skirts...but i have yet to accomplish making the pleats! Please help me! i love your skirt though! It definatley rocks my socks! hehehehe
hehe, thanks for the compliments guys, it makes me feel special. anyway pleats are pretty simple i think, the trick is probably ironing your pleats as you go so they stay..

i folded over my pleats about an inch, but on a storebought skirt of mine it's folded over about 3 inches.

i hope this picture shows the the finished pleats *you'd want to hem the bottom of your fabric before you make pleats, to make it easier*

then pin the top of your pleats and sew across so you've got your pleated ruffle and then sew it on to your waistband. it's tricky sewing the sides of your pleats together once they're sewed on to your skirt, i try to sew under the pleat so the seams hidden

the size of your pleats are up to you and you can measure them to make sure they're perfect or just eyeball it, because it doesn't really matter if they're exactly the same width. and i know there's other ways of pleating but i don't know any... i hope this made sense, and was sorta helpful, sorry it was so long... ta ta for now!

p.s. spiderman rules.. hehe.
53  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / kitty hat on: March 02, 2004 08:22:05 PM
kitty hat. it was my first non-scarf knitting project, i'm a pretty new knitter and i was so excited that it came out looking like the picture. i thought it turned out cute so i made my little sister model it.. here it is. the patterns kinda big i think, or maybe my yarn was just fat.. i used that super soft jiffy, mohair type yarn... i love it, but yah.. i'm so attached to it, i wore it to the dmv when i went to renew my liscence but they made me take it off for my picture *poo* oh well

hey oh... check out what i did with an awesome 69 cent spiderman pillowcase i found at thrift town.. it took me about an hour to make.

i just cut 2 ten inch tall sections of the pillowcase sewed them together and pleated them and sewed them to a bottom of an old black t-shirt i folded over to make a waistband out of...
and voila, time to rock and roll...
55  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / boy beanie on: March 02, 2004 01:44:52 PM
Allo crafty bunch... yah, i've been addicted to this site for some time, so i decided it's about time i posted something, woot woot! i'm just a litlle excited about this if you can't tell... anyway i knitted this beanie for a *boy* but i'm modeling it because i havn't given it to him yet...
sorry, the pictures a little well, off centered, but you get the idea...I kinda used the pattern for the kitty hat from stitch and bitch, but left off the earflaps and did the whole thing in seed stitch so it kinda took forever, but i like how it turned out so yah, he just better apreciate my mad knitting skills or else i'll be stealing it back, AAaaarrgghh!
