1  Re: Felt Badge Round 2 Gallery!! (Send Out July 9) in The Swap Gallery by Lylyfai on: June 28, 2012 09:25:24 PM
I have to get my gushing out first. So much has happened!

Nostephot's Badger badge cracked me up as much as it impressed me with her stitching.

Nooo's sparkly fish is too cute, the sequins are really well done, considering how tiny...and I agree the itsy landscape is amazing. Plus her bird is fabulous, I love the beadwork and adding the feathers was genius. The little hootie owl is so sweet.

Leslieshappyheart's owl is so expressive and detailed - just wow. And your little chicken is so intricate and adorable.

Bobomom's little kawaii blob is so cute (even if I don't know what it is lol) and her librarian Snoopy and teensy Woodstock is wonderful.

Thimble71's landscapes are amazing as is the Rosalind Russell ( I agree that her's is the Mame to see). Love all the beads.

Amymarie78's Stitch was perfect and the apple critter was almost mezmerizing in its adorable stare Smiley . I also love her bacon and I am really envious of the little mushroomy hedgehog one!!

Kimbles ginger kitty and stag badges are really well done. The stag could just walk off that! I LOVE her "Grow" badge, very creative. I love the earth cutaway too..deliciously nerdy.

Jillybean's Horde badge was obviously sent to the wrong person...I'm positive it should be mine and the little controller was great! Nice details. Apparently the two packets got mixed up AND sent out wrong, because I am sure Neill Patrick Harris actually requested that Dr. Horrible badge for me as I am his biggest fan (72% percent chance of that). The Swap organizer is great..love the color combo.

I love Interrobam's drawing, very fun...love your style! The hummingbird is insanely detailed and darling. And the teeny leaf within a leaf fox badge is so adorable. Kudos for that stitching work!

Now on to my fun!!  I got my badges yesterday from hgddm! I don't think she realized what one would mean to me....completely accidental. She found some vintage tattoo style badges on my Pinterest and changed it around a bit and made an original one that brought me to tears. I lost my mom three years ago and we had a long standing running joke about getting tattoos (we were both to chicken to do it, my mom also joked about already having ink from radiation treatment) and the only tattoo she said I could get would be an old fashioned "Mom" tattoo. So after she passed I finally became a mother myself through adoption, under weird, almost comical situations, that several people have commented reminds them of something my mom would have orchestrated (she was a world class meddler).

So sometimes I talk to my mom when I am taking a moment away from my now almost 20 month old toddler and the other day I commented that I wished she could see her grandson, because he was quite a mess. Then yesterday I pop open this....

A perfect rendition of the tattoo I would be allowed to have. It was like a sign that I was doing good...we were very silly together, me and mom, and I'm trying to continue that with my little man. We laugh a lot around here now Cheesy!
And with it a darling badge with embossed paper flowers in my current favorite combination of coral and aqua! It has lots of gorgeous stitching that I don't think can really be done justice to with my photography skills.

Thank you Linsey...it is exactly what I needed.

3  Re: Unique Pin Cushion swap, sign ups 8.1.10 thru 8.14.10, s.o.=9.1.10 CLOSED in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Lylyfai on: August 23, 2010 05:24:51 PM
I'm having a very hard time deciding exactly what to make, but I guess I better settle on something quickly.

Me too! It's unusual for me in that I haveTOO many ideas. Usually I have great ideas up until the end of sign-ups and then the second I get my partner- *BLANK*. But I finally picked the one that would be the most fun to make and hopefully I would squee at if I were the one getting it!!! I think there is gonna be a decent squee factor actually. argh...I hope I didn't jinx it

Wait.....gotta fix that...

You're gonna hate it Gamemom42! Just throw it away when you get it!!! (hope that unjinxed me LOL)

ok...so sneak peek

7  Re: Kitschy Kitchen Apron Swap Gallery (Send by 11/11/07) in The Swap Gallery by Lylyfai on: October 30, 2007 12:30:56 PM
My swap package from Kaissa arrived at lunch! Could I be more spoiled...I don't think so...seriously. The apron is Lime green (very very good=chartreuse love) and pink (my favorite combo!) the pincushion, which is adorable and well made, is pink paisley (my favorite motif) with darling buttons (one is a cute green flower) and the picture frame is not only a gorgeous shade of blue but also is paisley AND has RHINESTONES. It is perfect for my new nephew's pic which we just realized is the only kid NOT in my craft room (Oh NO...crime!).  OMG its as if she went shopping at the Misty store!!

Closer Tongue-

And Girlfriend's gorgeous pleats, which I just cannot do justice with my crap lighting at the moment!

Amy...I just can't tell you how adorable everything is and how absolutely perfect it is...and it fits perfectly...I've already made lunch in it and I'm planning on wearing it to our neighborhood tea that we have once a year...they will probably knock me in the head and steal it...but I'll look good going!

Seriously...it was a great package...showed a lot of thought and generosity. Thank you, Amy

Now...I'm going to go burn what I've been working on and start over....

just kidding... Tongue

8  My Blythe <3s Halloween in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Lylyfai on: September 21, 2007 02:55:45 PM
Getting my girls ready for the Holiday, so instead of attempting to make 32 individual costumes...or have 32 stewardesses...or kitties..or bears or bunnies...or god forbid...32 Bratz doll costumes,

I went with masks....Here is the first one I made (posted previously on the Suggest-a-board)

Celestial:

And then specifically for this Halloween-

Diva:

Forest Nymph:

Harlequin:

Paisley:

And my favorite the Unicorn:

Thanks to my Blythe Melon, Trudy, for having the patience to model these while I snapped them on and off of her....oh and the strap is made with regular snaps so the strap can be easily placed on the doll and easily replaced if it breaks. Oh and I made all the patterns myself and the one in the works is a Ladybug. Enjoy!

9  Knitting payback is so SWEET! in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by Lylyfai on: August 10, 2007 10:00:07 AM
Oh I am so excited and happy. My niece mentioned last Christmas that she wanted to learn how to knit. This was the first indication that any craftiness existed in my family (I am the exception) so I was a bit sceptical (she also wanted to start a band in 5th grade...she's 21 now...no band LOL). But when she showed up at my house last weekend, took one look at my rather top heavy pile of WIPs...practically demanded that I teach her...as though I were holding out on a really great secret LOL! So we sat down...and she was a sponge!!! Wanted to know everything and how it worked and what did you do if... and how do you  and what does it and WOW! I was so impressed! I was nearly in tears! So like any good junkie...I began to outfit her with a knitting kit. Found a darling felted wristlet I had received in a swap (had been using it myself, but her need was greater!!!) and filled it with scissors and tape measure and a gauge ...well thingey...the metal ruler thing with needle size holes and a gauge "window". Then with my husband watching on with huge saucer like eyes, I gave her a pair of my beloved bamboo needles. He nearly fainted. I was that proud and happy. She picked it up very quickly and is already addicted (much to her boyfriends irritation and the rest of the family's slight amusement). She came back the next day with a bookmark sized practice swatch that was so marvelous, I had her bind it off, weave in the ends (add a big blue plastic tapestry needle to the kit, duh) and I'm using it as a bookmark!! I am so proud,...did I mention that?Huh I sighed happily and sent her back to school.

Fast forward 3 days, she emailed me pictures of her first WIP....a baby blanket. OMG I AM SO FREAKING PROUD...I'm sure I mentioned that....

So today, I went to the mailbox, still happily buzzed from knit-teaching-itis (oh and winning a really nice toy on e-bay). Lo and behold I found a box... hmmm and it's from the niece?!?!?!

And she even replaced the needles I gave her...oh man....is it to late to adopt her...I'm sure my brother wouldn't mind surely...Is she the greatest or WHAT?Huh?

10  Re: We Love our Blythes, Pullips and DALs swap Round 3 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Lylyfai on: February 08, 2007 09:40:36 AM
Hallo!! Want to show off some goodies. Cheesy

Here is what I received from Glittertoe:

She made the darling green pencil skirt with the cute pompom trim, the adorable sundress and the fun little purple gingham skirt with the green flower bead on it. I forgot to turn the girls heads so you could see the tiny glittery hairclips that have been carefully distributed amongst the neediest girls lol.

And I thought I would show what I sent Glittertoe and Jes (basically since I can't wait on them lol too too too impatient is me lol)

Here is what I sent Jese:

The image on the shirt is a movie poster of a kick-ass Italian horror movie called "What have they Done to Solange?" which is where Jese got the name for her girl, Solange. So since my hubby is a movie freak, he happened to have a scan of the poster... Then I made a pleated skirt with a punky black petti underneath. I added in the little clips and a tiny rosary (sorta) for extras.

Then for Glittertoe:

I made her a little sundress with daisy trim, a ruffled dress with matching bloomers and also sent her some little hair jaws and a dragonfly charm necklace!

Hope they love em!
