1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Driving mixtape on: June 15, 2007 03:08:46 AM
I'm making a mixtape/CD (I can't remember which one her car can play :/)... in honour of her passing her driving test, so she has something to play in her new car....
I was going to have them all driving-themed, subtley at least, so far i have Gary Numan's Cars, Hellogoodbye's Here in your arms ("I like, where we are, when we drive, in your car..")
However I've completely run out of ideas, as all the other songs I can find are either about the two of us being in love.... Embarrassed ... or Brand New stylee ("I hope there's ice on all the roads, And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt and again when your head goes through the windshield")... whcih isn't too good.
Suggestions anyone?
2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Some of my stuff.... (several pictures) on: June 15, 2006 10:48:24 AM
..... From a while ago  Grin Yes, another procrastinator.... anyways, some's stencilling, some freehand, you can probably tell which is which  Roll Eyes Nothing's a given "finished" project.... so any comments/questions/constructive critisism is very welcome - the last one, for example, definitely needs some more funky mod-ness, but I'm not sure what.... Anyways, on with the pictures.

3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Mighty Boosh stencil, anyone? on: May 28, 2006 10:40:19 AM
... I was just wondering if anyone has/could make/knows where to find a mighty boosh stencil...... For those of you who don't know btw, The Mighty Boosh is an awesome comedy show.... anywho, my stencil-making capabilities stretch to changing colour pics to black and white, and unsurprisingly this hasn't really worked to create a decent usable stencil. I was hoping for a stencil of Vince Noir (a character), but anything Boosh related would be fantastic. Sadly, apart from just a google search I don't have any amazing photos   Embarrassed
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help at all!
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Shrinkles/shrinky dink help needed, please! on: March 12, 2006 12:28:00 PM
Ok, so after finally having tracked down some of this intriguing stuff in the UK, whoot.... there were two choices in Hobbycraft - packs of ready-cutout, ready-drawn fairies etc, or dubious-looking little packs of plain sheets, with absolutley no instuctions on them. Naturally, I went for the dubious option, but unfortunately now I haven't got the foggiest how to go about making any.
I know they might differ slightly to what other people use, but could anyone just give me some pointers, eg. How much do they shrink? What can you use to colour them with and does it work on the black sheets? And also, how to cook/shrink the darn things! Thank you.........
5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Anyone help with a stencil of The Like? on: January 15, 2006 02:21:09 AM
Well, I've tried with the whole making the picture black and white on word.... but all of 'em came out pixelated, without limbs/faces, and too complicated.... has anyone got a decent one already that I could use, or could anyone be kind enough to do magic photoshop stuff to it, or something like that.... ( I haven't got skills  Cry) Thanks for any help!
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Altering fine-knit top - do I need to set knit somehow? on: January 01, 2006 01:31:52 PM
Right... I got a shapeless top about 6 sizes too big for me from a charity shop, as it's striped in a kinda nautical fashion, and I have grand dreams of it becoming a long, tight-fit sailors tee with a ballerina neck.
However, it's a fine-knit material (38% wool, 38% acrylic, 24% polyester to be exact) and I know that obviously if it just gets cut, it'll unravel. BUT as its fine-knit, felting it is a big no-no, as well as it probably not working with it not being all wool.
So.... any ideas? Would blocking work at all? On the label it says for washing to dry flat and reshape with a cool iron..... kinda like blocking? so would it make any difference? HELP?!  Huh Any opinions welcome.
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Punk rocker boy mate on: November 22, 2005 11:56:15 AM
Right, well in my tight group of friends, every time someones birthday comes around, we instantly go crazy on cards with mini-novels inside,hand-stitched, personalised cushions, handmade jewellery, photo albums with pictures dating back to primary school (we're all 15/16 now Cheesy) ....And there's a great guy in our form, who we don't hang out with as such, but we consider a friend, and who's just cool. Last time the birthday hoopla came, he was really doleful-looking, cos guys hardly ever get each other presents, let alone personalised ones, and he looked so darn sad...

So, to end my long and entirely pointless story, me and another friend have vowed to make him some ultra hip and groovy, cool-ass Xmas pressies.... but I have no idea what to do. He's the average teenage rocker - loves Greenday, Protocol, Alkaline Trio, etc etc, has dyed black hair, wears eyeliner for gigs (whoot! makeup wearing guys...) Occasionally performs table dances in the canteen at lunch if the mood takes him...... so yeah, any ideas? None of us are romantically linked to him in any way, so it can't be something TOO personal and heartfelt if you know what I mean.... but something obviously done with him in mind.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Simple silk/satin lace camisole... ideas? on: November 06, 2005 05:09:53 AM
Well, I have inherited/nicked some gorgeous silky material, in several colours, which my mum was given and never used, and I want to make something like this....(hope the picture shows up...)
I want it to be like that, except, with a full line of lace round under the bust area. Does anyone know a good pattern they've used and loved? I'm a small size, and I like my clothes to be fairly fitted, but with it being non-stretch and all.... and does the busty bit need pinning??
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / All ideas for T-shirt reconstructions ( now with finished item and picture!) on: November 03, 2005 12:51:52 PM
Right, well, I've seen odd resized/funked up T-shirts, but I thought, this time, I'd ask all you guru's what would work FIRST, then do my thing. So, any fairly simple but effective ideas for a dearly loved, slightly expensive band T-shirt I got (mando diao at the roadhouse in manchester, diamond nights as support, THEY ROCKED) Anyway..... It's just a big ol' black t-shirt with a print on the front. So if anyone can think of stuff I could do maybe to the back of it, it also needs refittng, but its not really a stretchy T-shirt as such, and when I've fitted those kinda T-sirts before its ended up tricksy to take off without risking the seamwork.. grateful for any help!
10  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Not sure if this is on the right board.... spraypaint shoes on: October 18, 2005 10:18:32 AM
Right, I have some boring old black slip on shoes, not sure if they're leather, if its not its imitation leather stuff, and I have some silver spray paint, usable on furniture, radiators, toys, etc etc. Do you reckon I could possibly get some silver shoes out of it, or would it go disasterously wrong.....Huh?? Will they need waterproofing seperately, will they be OK, will the spray work on the material? I need a last minute glitz added to my wardrobe for my trip to Paris this Friday  Grin

EDIT: It says it shouldn't be used for exterior furniture, but its not like its going to be hanging round outside all the time like garden furniture....
