1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My First Duct Tape Purse **so proud!** on: December 29, 2005 07:31:28 PM
I am so excited... I just finished my first duct tape purse last night. It is made out of white, red, and black duct tape, a picture of Sonny Moore (from a band--- From First To Last), and purse handles I found at Michael's. Basically all I did was took long strips of duct tape and taped them all together to form four pieces- the front, the back, the sides, and the bottom. Then i put on the picture of Sonny Moore and covered it in a layer of clear packing tape so it wouldn't get ruined. Then I used a whole-punch to punch out red and black dots and attached the handles. The whole thing took about an hour or two to make, and I am extremely happy with the way it turned out.

Also, this is my first time posting pictures so please let me know if they don't work.

2  UNITED STATES / Pennsylvania / What kind of businesses/companies do I send sponsorship letters to? please help! on: November 28, 2005 09:29:12 AM
Ok heres the deal, I was recently interviewed and excepted to go on a 20-day trip to Europe with an organization called People to People. I will be a student Ambassador in France, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria this summer! Im very excited and I am sure this will be a wonderful expirience. The only problem is, the tuition is $5,559!!! I am only 14 years old, and my parents have already decided that if I want to go on this trip I will be doing all the fundraisers on my own. So I have decided that I will do a monthy fundraiser. My fundraiser for November were Handmade Christmas Cards sold for $15 a pack. For December, I am planning on sending out a letter to companies/businesses informing them of my trip and asking for contributions. I was planning on sending these letters to about 50 different companies/businesses, but thats where Im stuck! I don't know who to send to! Others on here have said "local businesses" but WHAT local businesses? what KIND of local businesses?! Do you send to places like Walmart and Target? or malls? or banks? or restaurants? or craft stores? or WHAT?! Please! I really need your help, I already have my letter all typed out, I just need to figure out 50 businesses to send to! THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!   Kiss
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Need to earn $3000 by April, need quick and easy purse ideas to make and sell on: November 26, 2005 08:39:27 PM
Ok, heres the deal..... I am 14 years old and was recently interviewed and accepted by an organization called People to People to travel as a student ambassador to France, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria for 20 days. The trip costs $5,000+, and my parents have agreed to pay a portion of it, but I still need to raise  over $3000 by April of THIS year. Each month I have been doing a fundraiser through my family... last month I made handmade christmas cards and sold them for $15 a box, but I only got 5 orders. My monthly goal is just over $500 and I think by just selling to the few family members I have that are participating is not going to help me reach my goal. So now, I have decided that I want to make something to sell to girls at my school. I think that purses are the best way to go- but I don't know how to go about this. Do any of you know of any quick, easy, and cheap purses that I could make? These cannot take a lot of time because I will most likely be making more than one at a time, like an assembly line... One after another, after another, after another... anyway- also they have to be cheap and easy. They cant cost too much $$ because I want to make a profit off of them. I think I would be selling them for around $10 per purse, so the supplies for one purse would have to be less $$ than $10. Also, before hand, I would like to mention that I cannot knit, crochet, etc. So that type of purse is out. I don't have many supplies (but am willing to buy them, depending on the cost) but I do have clear packing tape, ribbon, magazine cutouts, a few hardcover books, a sewing machine, eyelets and an eyelet setter. If you know of any purses/wallets that I can make with these things, or any other cheap and easy purses, please let me know! I would like to have an idea of what I will be making for the month of December before the 1st. Thank you in advance!
