1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knit toys for big dogs? on: June 24, 2007 11:13:52 AM
This is my sweet, not-so-little puppy, Caesar.  In actuality, he just turned three, but he's such a cutie, he's still a "puppy."

I want to make my grandma's dog (a mini schnauzer) a sweater at some point, but since a 100 lb. German Shepherd really doesn't need a sweater in South Florida, I'd like to make him some toys instead.  He loves stuffed animals and squeaky toys, and loves getting his big nose into my yarn stash and trying to snuffle my knitting.

Basically, I'd like to make him some things that are big enough for him, but also rugged enough that he won't rip them apart.  Does anyone have any good patterns for big dogs?  Or at least any tips?  I feel like felting the final pieces before I sew them together would make them stronger and less likely for him to put a tooth through, but I just don't know.
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / My two latest creations... on: December 30, 2005 05:53:02 PM
...as worn by my b-e-a-u-tiful beige lamp shade!

A Christmas present for my friend, made from sterling silver chain and findings, an art glass pendant, and frosted glass crow beads.

A Christmas present to me from me, made from sterling silver chain and findings, and glass bicones.  The silver "beads" are actually two end caps put together.

As well as my favorite pair of earrings, which I could not resist throwing in.  They are made out of tigertail wire, crimp beads, hematite stars, and silver findings

3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Lots of old blinds on: October 21, 2005 10:45:40 AM
I don't really have a lot of crafty ideas, but I'd suggest taking the cords out of them and putting them away.  They're good to have around if you need to tie something or need string/cord in a project.  They're really strong and can be really useful.

Oooo!  Cute, cute, cute.  You did an awesome job re-creating the pattern.

That is so cute!  I love those bag charms, but I've never seen any quite... worthy... of my bag.  This is absolutely adorable!  She's going to looooooove it. I love the color and the mix of charms.

i have a notebook full of cut outs of cool jewelry i've found in magazines

So do I!  Except I haven't been motivated enough to actually glue them into a notebook, it's really just a scattered pile of clippings.  Magazines and bead catalogs are the best inspiration.

Those are too funny!  I would be afraid they'd get caught in my hair.  I think my brother has some micro machine racecars somewhere... such a great idea!

I love those!  They all look like they belong in some high-end boutique... I love the curly effect on the red and yellow beaded necklaces.  The colors on the flower necklace are so pretty; you have a good eye for that kind of thing.  I'd definitely wear all of those.

Pink and green!  My absolute favorite colors in the world!  You have a great eye for color.  I can see why you get so many compliments on the button necklace.  Simple, yet really cute.  I recently dug up a bunch of colored buttons myself... guess what they'll be going towards now. LOL
