1  UNITED STATES / Michigan / recycled bookbinding in detroit area? on: March 15, 2008 07:03:38 AM
I dabbled in recycled bookbinding and honestly didn't enjoy it that much. I'm looking to clear out all my supplies and wanted to know if anyone that's in the area would want to give it a good home? I have tons of paper, wallpaper/vinyl samples, stationary, floppy disks, posters, matting board, etc ETC! I just want to be sure it finds a good home and doesn't end up in a landfill somewhere.  Smiley
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / where do you get your reclaimed paper? on: September 23, 2007 02:44:55 PM
So I'm curious: Where does everyone get their reclaimed paper to make journals, books, etc? My work only has boring print-outs I can save, and it seems like most everyone else I know don't really have anything too fun! I've tried posting on craigslist & freecycle, but no bites so far.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / lion suede pattern? on: June 24, 2007 12:52:36 PM
So I bought 4 balls of Lion Brand Suede because they were on SUPER discount for $1.97/ball! I justified the purchase because I swore I remember seeing a pattern for some kind of tank top/sleeveless shirt using this yarn. Now I can't find one anywhere! Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Perhaps you have a better suggestion on what to use the yarn for? Thanks!!
4  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / my first handspun ever! on: June 18, 2007 05:25:59 PM
I took a class this weekend at a LYS on spinning w/ a Hi-Lo Spindle. Here's my first mini-skein we did in class. I'm still using the park and draft method because I'm still a little scared. hehe

5  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / this spindle ok for beginner? on: June 14, 2007 07:37:59 AM
After reading Knitty's article on spinning with silk hankies I really want to give it a try. Do you think this spindle would be ok to start with? Let me know any opinions/comments you have!! Cheesy

6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / vegan lip balm on: May 01, 2007 10:05:55 AM
I have only been able to find one vegan lip balm recipe online. Does anyone have any other sources? Also, can beeswax be easily subsititued by candillia wax or other waxes in typical lip balm recipes? Thanks!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Lime n Violet fans... on: December 07, 2006 04:54:10 PM
For those of you who are Lime n Violet podcast fans I wanted to bring something to your attention. Recently Miss Violet found a lump in her breast. Because her insurance company SUCKS, she is not able to make an appointment to get it checked out because that would cost $1000. They have started a few ways for people to help out... a) Lisa Souza has died a "Violet's Pink Ribbon" sock yarn where a proceed will go to paying for Miss V's bill. b) also any items through the Lime n Violet etsy shop will benefit too. c) finaly you can also just click on the donate button on their website to donate that way too.

9  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / FAVORITE DYEING METHOD? on: July 10, 2006 07:03:12 AM
After doing a bit of Kool Aid dyeing with yarn, I want to try something else. What are your favorite brands/methods for dyeing yarn? Thanks!
10  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / dyeing question on: June 26, 2006 08:39:47 AM
I recently bought a skein of white baby yarn that's 50% virgin wool and 50% virgin nylon. Would this take kool aid as dye? Or maybe RIT dye since it's not 100% wool? I don't really want to spend money on acid dyes and such because I'm on a budget. Thanks!
