1  My first, funky Frosted Glasses! in Glass Crafts: Completed Projects by backstgartist on: June 19, 2007 09:17:55 PM
I got into the joy of ArmourEtch tonight and made some glasses.

This one is for my brother, who loves Pirates. I did the lettering, and the ship was a stencil that came with my etching kit:

This is for me. It's my initials, and designs relating to my school major, theatre design:

This is also for me. It features lots of cute bunnies! :

And finally, for my sister, who asked for a sun on hers:

4  My brown courduroy messanger bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by backstgartist on: August 05, 2006 07:15:12 PM
I was inspired to make a bag the other day, and a trip to Jo Ann's Fabric resulted in some beautifully embroidered brown corduroy fabric that I just had to buy (despite it's rather steep $14.99/yrd....I only needed a yard anyway!).
Following a wonderful tutorial by Frogz (found here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=36676.0), I made my first messanger bag (and my first lined bag, and first project with piping!) complete with buckles, pockets under the flap, and a little pocket on the shoulder strap. I added some iron-on interfacing to the front, back, and flap for strength.
I'm in love with this bag!  What do you think?

Modeling the bag (I look really excited...but I was!)

My room after the bag...what a mess!

5  My first pair of PJs! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by backstgartist on: August 04, 2006 03:02:12 PM
I've been an amateur sewer forever...I can do your basic hems and pillows and all that jazz, but I've never attempted clothing (except for dolls)...until today! When I was at Jo Ann's Fabrics the other day, I fell in love with this cozy flannel print featuring little palettes and famous architecture. I bought it and went to work...I had an older pair of PJs that were worn out, so I ripped out the seams and used them as a pattern for a new pair of pants!
And I found a pajama shirt I had that happened to match, and added some coordinating cuffs.
Without further ado...my first venture into clothes:
(ignore my funny looking boobs...I dunno what is going on here!)

The pants:

And the shirt, with the pants:

Not too awful for my first try! The back of the pants sits a bit low, but otherwise, they fit great Smiley

6  Re: LOST Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by backstgartist on: July 08, 2006 08:24:04 PM
I recieved from Ashestoashes today and I was so excited to see my package complete with Dharma shipping seal!
Inside, I found a hysterical card with Michael on the front screaming "WAAAAALT!" with a note saying hello inside.
Then, I got to the real goodies!
Here is everything together:

And now...for the close ups!

A Sawyer journal with funny quotes and stickers that relate to LOST at the bottoms of the pages, and an Australia sticker! There's the Michael card there too:

An Oceanic tote that says "Getting Halfway There is All the Fun!":

A Sawyer pillow!:

And my favorite, little Sawyer and Kate in poppet form, who have settled nicely into my room already:

You can't really see, but Kate's got a mini plane in her hand, and Sawyer has his copy (well...Boone's copy) of "Watership Down."

And just for kicks, cause I thought it was so cute, Sawyer's hair in it's little half ponytail:

THANKS so much Jennifer (Ashestoashes)! Your package should arrive on Monday Smiley

9  Pockets the Denim Penguin in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by backstgartist on: January 10, 2006 04:43:16 PM
Here is my new friend Pockets:

He's made out of the leg of a pair of jeans, with pockets for his wings and beak. I used bleach to get his whitened tummy and eyes. What do you think? Smiley He definitely looks better in real life (and much more cuddly!) I guess photos don't do him justice!
He was pretty easy to make, seeing as I'm a terrible sewer and I don't have a machine available, so this guy was done by hand. If there is a real big interest, I can make a tutorial.

I recieved my package from Ongir today!  Grin

Looky looky!
An awesome Ravenclaw scarf-inspired pillow, a brilliantly bright Tonks-inspired pink scarf, a lovely decoupage box with chapter pictures and words, and a great blue moon pendant (I told her I was a big Lupin, Sirius, Tonks, and Ravenclaw fan. She did great!)

Close up of the box with the pendant inside:

Thank you Ongir!
