12  Valentine's Love Birds in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Kayster on: February 04, 2009 05:36:30 PM

I found this really cute pattern for some love birds.  I was going to make them and fill them with some sweet smelling somethings so that they would become sachets...but I decided to stuff them and keep them for myself.  I was going to give it to a friend that has no concept how cool and awesome crochet stuff is.  So I decided no one would appreciate these love birds as much as I would, so I'm keeping them! HA

Here is the pattern:

13  DORMANT: hexagon afghan crochetalong (w/pattern link) in Crochetalongs by Kayster on: January 28, 2009 09:14:55 PM
I just started a new afghan that I'm making for my mom for mother's day.  I might be a little ambitious but hey I'm young...I sure would love the motivation of some outstanding craftsters to join me!

My mother really wanted these colors...so I had to order the remanding amount of yarn...and so this is where I'm at and I won't be able to add on until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

I found the pattern at this amazing blog.  There is also a link to a related flickr pool on the blog too....

If you went to the link then you now how colorful, creative, and beautiful it could really be.  My mom just likes the neutrals.  PLEASE JOIN ME with this craft-a-long.  It's going to be AWESOME!

14  Beret Hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by Kayster on: January 28, 2009 08:53:54 PM
I made this hat in about 2 hours... I was watching TV so you could probably do it even faster....

I found the pattern here (http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory.php)  Crochet Pattern Central a very good resource to find all kinds of crochet patterns... I haven't been steered wrong yet.

The specific hat pattern I used is here, http://www.baycrochet.com/patberet.htm.  I omitted the bill.

Here I am in it.  You can see the back in the mirror.

15  vinyl poster computer sleeve in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Kayster on: January 13, 2009 11:37:12 AM
I work at the mall and during my work I've realized all of the cool marketing props get thrown away in the dumpster!  Well, not on my watch!  I saved this HUGE vinyl poster from the dumpster.

There are 4 panels with 4 portraits all connected on the same poster.    It was 10 feet tall and around 25-30 feet long.

So for Christmas I made a bunch of bags out of them for my sisters.  Of course I did not take pictures of the final project because I tend to do that with all gifts.  But here is what I have.

This is a messenger bag pre-straps.

This you can kind of tell where the folds are.  I sewed up the two sides to make the makeup bag with that triangular flap.

This is just for scale and to see how big this poster really is.... I used this piece to make a little over night bag

So here is the computer sleeve that I made by weaving pictures.

Back

This is my computer half way in it...obviously

Peeking in.

16  Creepy Cute skeleton Bride and Groom in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Kayster on: October 24, 2008 12:24:07 PM
My BFF bought me the book Creepy Cute when I went on a little road-trip to visit her... http://www.amazon.com/Creepy-Cute-Crochet-Zombies-Ninjas/dp/1594742324/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1224875913&sr=8-1

She is engaged so for a thanks for the book and letting me stay the night at her house I made her the skeleton bride and groom.  I sent the bride to her and the groom to her fiance.

I changed it a little.  I kind of found the patterns to be unnecessarily complicated, but luckily I know a thing or two about crocheting, so I just modified it a little for myself.

20  What do you do with pool noodles? in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Kayster on: August 05, 2008 09:41:01 PM
Last weekend at my church it was Kids weekend.  This means that the kids get up on stage and sing and then you get to see what the kids are being taught instead of a message.  We do this once a year.  My church's stage is pretty much a blank slate and the decorating team usually does these huge and tremendous decorations for different series' of messages.  Anyway...this week for Kids they decorated the place with pool noodles.  The noodles were EVERYWHERE.  They made these HUGE flowers and HUGE bubble letters were hung on the wall spelling love God, Love All.  It was so amazingly awesome.  I was at church tonight for a small group meeting and saw that most of the decorations were down already but some of the flowers were still up!  So I grabbed my camera which I brought hoping that I could snag a few of the noodles.  I thought to myself, "It would be a sin not to show the crafter community what can be done with pool noodles."  So here you are!

You can see the scale because the theatre seats are right behind the flower and looking fairly small by comparison.

The tiny spirals and stuff coming out of the center are pipe cleaners.

I did not have any part in making this.  I just wanted to show you all.
