21  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Pineapples? The fruit :) on: March 24, 2006 06:13:22 PM
It's almost summer, so I thought it would be cute to have little crochet pineapples and coconuts throughout the house! I've got the coconuts down, but now for the pineapples. Here is a picture that could work (except it's knit bah)

http://grandbluedoor.com/knitblog/?cat=3

Is there a stitch that would make it bumpy like that pineapple hat? I can do the basic shape (increasing and decreasing), but I'm not sure how to get a bumpy/ridgy texture.

Any suggestions?

Wow I had never seen your whales before, and they are really cute! Maybe try adding a few more with brighter colors, those seem to have sold more....and I personally would love a bright aqua one  Grin

What about a custom whale? Where people can chose the solid color on top, the eye color and they can give you a general idea of what kind of fabric they want on the bottom. Maybe try tinkering around with accessories for the whale....like flowers/leis, eyelashes, sunglasses etc. You could also sell them seprately for people who already bought a whale, and want to dress it up!

(I hope that's the right URL)

Tomorrow I'm going to send out the MO....I can't wait to get them. I'm planning on investing in a camera soon, so I can *finally* start selling on etsy Smiley

Hi crafty folks,
I've had my etsy shop up since the beginning of the year and got really excited because I made a few sales here and there (yay!) Recently though it seems like sales have dropped and I was wondering if any of you would be willing to go take a look and critique my shop a bit. I've gotten a bit discouraged and you all seem like such a knowledgeable and professional bunch!
I'm at: http://mack.etsy.com
I would so much appreciate any feedback or advice. I love my crafts and this whole etsy thing has been a little bit of a secret childhood dream come true...

Your stuff is really cute! Your prices look perfect also.....so the only thing I could suggest would be to maybe market them as charms also? Then people who bead would be interested, or maybe even make some jewellry with them yourself.

Awesome stuff though Smiley
27  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / I'm having the hardest time coming up with a name! on: March 12, 2006 11:34:45 AM
Sorry, I know this gets asked often, but I could really use some help! I'll be selling mostly crochet and felt items to start with, but I will be adding other products as I start getting paid more at my new job lol. I know for a fact I'd love to get some handspun/dyed yarn and sewn items. I love the anything tropical/beachy so I'm hoping to find a cool name along those lines. Here is what I've come up with so far:

-Coconut Bay
-Breezy Palm
-Beach Bumming
-Urban Hibiscus

ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

I didin't end up with 5 dc at the end of the row either....I don't remember what I did, but I just made sure I had 55 dc at the end of the row. It turned out fine though, but I'm thinking there might be a problem with the pattern  Shocked
29  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Amigurumi Easter Bunny on: March 03, 2006 10:26:12 PM
That is *the* most adorable easter bunny ever!! I can't stop looking at him and saying "aww"....you did such an awesome job Smiley

To post a pattern, you just copy it (from notepad, or wherever you wrote it down) and copy it in a new message. I would also love a copy of it if you decide just to send it by email, my email is rawrmonkey@sbcglobal.net

What's your etsy username?

I just made a little pink one....it's so cute! I didin't see what hook to use, so I just used a G hook. I also didin't have any little googly eyes, so I used little white buttons. I think I might crochet her a little hat or something haha. I don't have a camera right now....but hopefully soon so I can take a picture!  Grin

Oh and to the poster who asked if it was good for a beginner, it is...as long as you know how to decrease and increase.
