1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Revival of a Paper Napking Roll Holder! wohoo! on: September 09, 2009 06:41:38 PM
This is my first post EVER. I've been a member since 2005.God I love this site, don't you?..creativity is so beautiful.

Anyway,my mom was about to throw out this paper napking roll holder...as soon as I saw it ,I was inspired to do something with it. I really liked all the re-creations done with paper techniques,so I thought I'd give it a try 'cause I love paper and I had a bunch of old magazines waiting to be used.Sorry for the bad quality, cellphone pics.

Here's the Before pic:

And the whole work description:

1.Sanding it down.
2.I cut mostly colorful papers in the shape of long triangles.A lot of them.
3.Done.The secret to this look is alternating the triangles in color and trying to glue them in different directions.
It looked too matte for my liking,so I decided to varnish the whole thing.
4.Cut out a circle of Eva foam to put in the base, for a more profesional look.

After the varnish, here's the final result:

I went for a more plastic, modern look.I'm already cutting tons of triangles 'cause I want to make a lot more stuff using this colorful technique (including some coasters). It looks 100% BETTER in person though.

P.S:I used Palmer Wateproof Glossy Varnish. It's great.
