1  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Question on Umbilical cord hat on: November 28, 2006 09:48:48 AM
Hello craftsters!  I'm stuck on this had.  I started doing the decreases after placing the stitch markers at every 8th stitch.  The instructions basically said to "knit 2 together in each section before the marker or before switching needles" (I totally paraphrased that since I have my book at home).  So I decreased before the marker on every needle but didn't touch the second set of 8 stitches.  Now that I have only 3 stitches left before the markers and 8 after the markers I think I did it wrong.

Am I supposed to decrease two times on each needle- before the marker and before switching needles?  Huh  Thanks for your help!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Berroco's Plush yarn for baby dress- dry clean only on: August 09, 2006 12:41:46 PM
I haven't gotten too far into this dress; I cast on 108 stitches and did about 3 rows when I noticed that it said dry clean only.  How can I give a baby a dress that can only be dry cleaned?

Should I rip it out and do another project with the yarn?  I've got 8 skeins for the 2 dresses I was going to make (4 skeins per dress in a matching array of colors).  Undecided
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Designing a quilt on: January 17, 2006 10:49:25 AM
Hello everyone!   Smiley  I've been commissioned to make a quilt for a friend, a tye dye quilt made from old t-shirts.  I have certain pieces that she wants included so my squares will be different sizes.  Does anyone know of a program or something that I can plug in my measurements and get an idea of a design?
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My mom's retirement quilt on: December 13, 2005 08:00:34 AM
I made this for my mother who retired from teaching this past June after 33 years!!!!  It was an awesome project to tackle and such a specialized quilt that it took a long time to finish.  I had all her teacher friends sign the schoolbus border and my mom was amazed when she opened up the quilt that she knew all the people who had signed the busses!  Cheesy

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Almost finished baby quilt on: December 12, 2005 09:38:45 AM
Let's see if I can figure out how to post this picture.  The quilt is for my good friend's new daughter born this Saturday, 12/10!!  All I have left to do now is finish the binding and make a tag.  I think she's going to love it!

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Blocking on: December 06, 2005 05:42:05 AM
Hello everyone!  I noticed that people have been talking about blocking their finished projects.  What exactly is this?  Is it necessary to do?  I have a scarf that I'm almost finished with that I'm thinking about blocking but don't know if it's really necessary.  Will it lengthen the scarf at all?  Will it soften the yarn??  Thanks!  Smiley
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Ideas for crafty secret santa gift for online friend? on: November 17, 2005 05:56:03 AM
Good morning crafsters!  I'm participating in a crafty secret santa swap and I have a woman who is an extremely talented quilter/sewer and artsy person.  I'm a pretty good quilter and knitter and I want to come up with something cool to give her.  I'm working on a neat scarf I could give or could start something totally new with my sewing machine.  Got any cool ideas for what I could send her?  Thanks!
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Surprise baby shower on: October 10, 2005 01:12:04 PM
Hello everyone!  My friend is due 11/27 and I want to do a surprise shower for her.  The problem is I don't know her schedule (she works weird days and hours) and her boyfriend is not having much luck getting in touch with me about when would be a good time.  Do you have any ideas on how I can find out her schedule without tipping her off?  Or maybe I should just let her know I'm planning something and ask when is good?

I thought I could talk to her about the Tupperware or candle party I want to throw and see if she's available on a certain day I was considering.  Then when she gets there SURPRISE it's a baby shower!  Do you think she'd figure it out?  She's a great person but can be very stubborn about things if she doesn't want to participate.
