Details of swap:
This swap is all about Spring Cleaning your Craft Stash.  You'll get a (slightly) cleaner craft area by passing along some of your old stash, and getting new-to-you supplies in return!  Simply stuff a MEDIUM FLAT RATE USPS box with gently-used quality supplies.  Don't feel the need to run out and buy something as the purpose of this swap is to clean out your existing stash.

You may choose to have 2 partners for this swap, unless you are a first time swapper.  First timers may only have 1 partner.

We will be using the MEDIUM Flat Rate Box available free at all U.S Post Offices.  There are two shapes: Option 1 is the "shirt box" (13-5/8" x 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" ) or Option 2 the square Box (11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2") and be sure to add delivery confirmation.  

Medium flat rate boxes sent Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation costs $11.40 at your local post office.  Set up an online profile at usps.gov and print your postage online and it would only cost $10.20.   Order FREE flat rate boxes to be sent to you through the USPS Website

12/30-- while it is NOT posted on the US Postal Service Website, the web community reports that the price of Priority Mail services will increase on January 4th, 2010.   I will inform you as soon as I find out the new price, I can't imagine that it will be more than a few cents increase.  And remember it is cheaper to print your postage online.  Thanks.

1/8-- It's Friday! and Sign-ups close today.

I'm going to say officially sign-ups close at 8:00 pm EST this evening so I can get started on partnering up people.   You will receive and PM from me or the co-organizer (gkswife) on Saturday mid-day (I hope!) with your partner info. You'' then have about 10 days to pack your boxes up and send them out.   Today is also the last chance for shout-outs for specific wishes in the thread today. Make your voice known-- I'll try to pair up people according to their survey AND the conversations in the thread.

----Packing Tips-----

Putting soft items in ziploc bags and then smooshing the air out of them (and then sealing) works well to cram things into boxes.  Some people even use spacebags/ foodsaver or other Vacuum-sealed bags.

Some Post Office staff frown at the over-stuffed, bowing out at the sides, held together with tape boxes when you try to take them in. Some persnickety post offices call this "altered" and won't send it. Don't pay more than the cost of the flat-rate service.  Do not pay by weight.  If they won't let you send a overpacked box, smile and then take some stuff out.

Just finished a project that had been sitting on my "to-do" pile for months, if not years. And just in time fore the holidays.

I started with a readymade birdhouse from Micheal's and free-hand drew the open mouthed cat on the wood.

Here's my original sketch you can use as a template/ guide


Then I painted the design with craft paint, added highlights/lowlights, outlined some important details with sharpies and then applied two coats of clear coat lacquer.  Note of warning, the sharpie markers bled a little when I spray the clear coat.

Here's the finished project from all sides.  Thanks for looking, hope I've inspired someone.

Fill-a-Box Supply Swap 7  **** Post office just issued a new size box that is more expensive-- ONLY use the $8.95 rectangle or square box NOT the $12.95 box************

Its that time of the year again, clean out those overflowing baskets, boxes and craft closets.  Start the new season with fresh supplies and fresh ideas.

You'll fill a FLAT-RATE US Postal Service box with as much as you can jam in and send it to your partner (Don't forget the Delivery Confirmation).

Gently Used supplies are fine, if not encouraged-- take this opportunity to do a little craft purging, the result is a clean(er) craft closet and some fresh ideas/supplies for crafting. Because of the special type of box (only $8.95 plus delivery confirmation) this is limited to US participants only. Sorry

In previous rounds I have allowed people to send a SECOND BOX.  Please indicate if you would like to send a second box.  You will be paired up with another person and you will also receive a second box.  YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED to send a Second Box to participate in this swap.
