1  Re: Spring Cleaning 2010: Fill a FLAT RATE Box; GALLERY send by 5/22 in The Swap Gallery by Oops Creations on: May 20, 2010 06:54:13 AM
I recieved a big box of fabric from Faux Valentine on Monday and then forgot to post pictures.   Haha do as I say , not as I do!

Anyways check out the loads of neat-o fabric.

The heavy, textured and denim fabrics

PLus a jelly roll sampler from the fat Quarter shop on the left hand side of the photo

Close-up on the awesome texture of the faux snakeskin suede.  Sensing something for Halloween. Also, something that looks like it could be sari fabric.

Cotton, Novelty and Quilting Fabrics

Thanks so much Faux Valentine.  You rock!

Reserved for Walter's Adventures in New England..... with his host Oops Creations : )

August 22: Walter is winging his way back to Minnesota.  Check back here for photos of Professor Linus's return and recap of his grand adventures....
------------------------

6/30. Back from a week in Montreal Quebec.  So many great photos but here's a little taste

Walter hits it big at the Casino du Montreal, he found this machine that you put in your bank card, enter a few number and it spits out loads of money, as much as you tell it too.  He developed a very nouveau riche attitude the rest of the trip.  His tune will change when he sees his next bank statement!

6/18 More Photos forthcoming.  We are leaving for Montreal and look forward to taking pictures in CANADA, eating some crepes, listening to some jazz, buying overpriced maple syrup and partaking in other generally touristy things to do.

June 8th:  Excited (and Sad) for the GLEE Season Finale on TONIGHT!

June Taking a quick trip to the Boston Common and the Frog Pond to wade and ride the carousel

Memorial Day Weekend Walter helped me plant my garden

May 2010  Walter spends some time at the office.   I tried to keep him out of trouble but he's eyeing that copy machine rather mischievously

5/19 Look who was waiting for me in the mailbox when I got home.

Look, homemade lollypops.  and don't you just LOVE those monkey patches.  so cute.

Thanks so much wx2dzug, this box rocked!

May I introduce Professor Linus,  an esteemed academic from Boston Massachusetts who looks forward to participating in an exchange.   He sorely needs a vacation!  He pulled out his sunglasses and backpack in preparation for travel.

He hopes that his application is approved and housing arranged for his summer "academic sabbatical"   Incidentally accommodations at Prof. Linus's home in Boston are available for visitors in exchange.

Reserved for Notes from the Organizer

5/3  One more week of sign-ups.  Send me a PM by the end of the day this Friday to participate.  Plenty of space available.  And keep posting in the thread your want's and de-stashing finds.

5/6 Sign-ups thru the end of Friday (tomorrow) 5/7.  Welcome to all of our newbie swappers in this round.  So happy to have you dip your toes into the Craftster Swap pool.   I hope to post partners over the weekend and send out PM's as time allows.

5/6 We have a swapper who is sensitive to allergens.  I hope that these supplies are clean  but if you are sending items from a heavy smoker or multiple pet household there might be a risk of irritating allergens.  Please PM me if you will be sending supplies from a smoker or pet household so I can not pair you with individuals who have allergies.  Thank you.

5/7 Thanks everyone for sharing with me if you have a smoker or pet household so I can avoid pairing you up with a person with allergies.  Thanks again for accommodating.

Sign-ups END TODAY, well thru the end of the day TODAY.  I'll be working on partners over the weekend.  So you should see a list first and then slowly see a PM with address information being sent out.

5/8  Closed the sign-ups this morning will work on partnering you up.   Thanks for joining.

6  Re: Sweet and Easy Valentine's Day Swap GALLERY, SEND OUT 2/06/2010 in The Swap Gallery by Oops Creations on: February 10, 2010 04:14:36 PM
I also received from Reavesad today.

She sent "flowers"  hehehe

Plus a card  and some peanut butter squares and HOMEMADE peanut butter cups.  I gave those to my husband (but not until I tried one myself, yummy!)

So the whole box smelled like lavendar and i wondered why...

She made a lovely aromatheraphy neck wrap (its microwaveable).  Wish you guys had smell-o-vision, it's so relaxing
PLus a neat little Tea wallet.  .

Speaking of relaxing check out the assortment of bath sachets and soaks, I'm saving these for the next time I go someplace with a big soaking bathtub. PLus a reversable fabric headband and notecards she also tucked in the package

These I'm not saving, in fact there are considerably less than arrived because they were so yummy.  A hint of almond in the shortbread I think

Thanks so much REAVESAD and Happy Valentines Day everyone!

I also got packages in the mail last night.  From Shelanie and nostephot.

Here's what Shelanie sent me...

Lots of fabrics and notions plus some soap scent, loofahs and pumics stones.  A neat perler bead kit and did I mention fabric....

Just wanted to highlight the lovely box decoration -- Shelanie's son did a lovely interpretation of Star Wars on my box.  My husband immediately picked out the characters-- apparently red lightsabers and squiggly lines indicate a evil character...  Also a little wist pick, flower brooch and cute bunny applique blocks (12 of them)

Quilters be jealous--- look at all these quilt blocks ready to be be sewn together and quilted.  My niece just moved to her "big girl bed" and this would make a good addition (if I can find the time to tackle it), maybe I better just start small and quilt this little doll quilt that has been "sandwiched" (not really a quilters term but whatever)

and this jam packed box is from nostephot

I think she also wins an award for nicely decorated and jammed pack box.  Way to push the limits of the box.  Love it!  Plus TWO more little flower pin brooches from my wists.  I am so happy to join that wist bandwagon, seriously!

And check out what else was inside.

Motherload.... tons of whimsies and I had taken another picture but it didn't turn out so I don't know if you can see the little charms and animal figurines.  Little deer and a french fry charm so adorable.   PLus stickers and a cool devil duck.  And lots of different fabrics.  some really cute prints.  There is one I found when I was unfolding the fabric and putting it away that was a really "arty print" with gold ginko leaves and another with a holly berry branch that I'm going to stretch over canvas for a cool art hanging.  If I accomplish it I'll post pictures of the finished product. And because I put them right into my kitchen i forgot to call attention to the min foil shapes (for baked goods, but I might use them for soaps) and a cool silicone pan that has definite soap or candle making mold possibilities.

anysways a BIG THANK YOU to Shelanie and Nostephot

Please PM oops creations, gkswife and your partner when you send, please include the DC#.

Don't forget to take photos for the gallery. I know once you cram everything in there you don't want to dump it out just to take photos, so I understand if you forget--- just make sure your partner take photos when they receive their goodies.  This Gallery is also a great place to post pictures of completed projects that used supplies you may receive.

Happy Swapping.

SEND/RECEIVE/FEEDBACK: How it works in this swap
I will mark-- in the gallery thread --when people have sent, when their partners have received and when they have received.  When those three conditions have been met, I will update feedback.

>>> NOTES from the ORGANIZER <<<<
12/30-- while it is NOT posted on the US Postal Service Website, the web community reports that the price of Priority Mail services will increase on January 4th, 2010.   I will inform you as soon as I find out the new price, I can't imagine that it will be more than a few cents increase.  And remember it is cheaper to print your postage online.  Thanks.

1/1-- Happy New Year.  Please feel free to post wants/ gives in this thread.  I'll do my best to pair up people after signups end according to wishes in the thread and your responses in the survey.

1/2-- This will be a round robin style swap where you send to one person and receive from a different person.

1/5-- Happy to see that people are posting their wants and what they are sending in the thread. Remembers sign-ups go thru the end of the day THIS Friday.  And I'll spend Saturday pairing up people. Thanks to gkswife who volunteered to be co-organizer.  She'll be assisting in sending out partner info and feedback.  sign-ups still get sent just to Oops Creations though.  Thanks!

1/7-- Sign-ups end Friday evening.  PLEASE NOTE the USPS raised their prices.
USPS Supplied Medium Box: 13-5/8" x 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" or 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" $10.70 (plus .70 for Delivery Confirmation when purchased at the post office. Only $10.20 when purchased online (free DC#).  I had mentioned this in sign-ups but wasn't sure on the price-- if you are unable to participate anymore because of the price PM me immediately and Ill remove you.

1/8-- It's Friday! and Sign-ups close today.

I'm going to say officially sign-ups close at 8:00 pm EST this evening so I can get started on partnering up people.   You will receive and PM from me or the co-organizer (gkswife) on Saturday mid-day (I hope!) with your partner info. You'' then have about 10 days to pack your boxes up and send them out.   Today is also the last chance for shout-outs for specific wishes in the thread today. Make your voice known-- I'll try to pair up people according to their survey AND the conversations in the thread.

----Packing Tips-----

Putting soft items in ziploc bags and then smooshing the air out of them (and then sealing) works well to cram things into boxes.  Some people even use spacebags/ foodsaver or other Vacuum-sealed bags.

Some Post Office staff frown at the over-stuffed, bowing out at the sides, held together with tape boxes when you try to take them in. Some persnickety post offices call this "altered" and won't send it. Don't pay more than the cost of the flat-rate service.  Do not pay by weight.  If they won't let you send a overpacked box, smile and then take some stuff out.
---------------------

1/9 Sign-ups Closed.
I'll work on partners this morning.  I'll try to do my best to pair up people, matching gives with wants, but it's not a perfect world and not everyone is giving out the specific craft item your searching for.  The old adage rings true in this swap, "one crafter's surplus supplies is another crafters great new idea."  And on the flip side, just because your partner wants a specific item, do NOT go out an buy it-- fill the box from your own surplus.  Most of all happy swapping!!!!!!

1/9  Partners posted  Send out by 1/19/10. Remember DC, please PM oops creations, gkswife and your partner when you send, please include the DC#.   Don't forget to take photos for the gallery. I know once you cram everything in there you don't want to dump it out just to take photos, so I understand if you forget--- just make sure your partner take photos when they receive their goodies.  Gallery is also a great place to post pictures of completed projects that used supplies you may receive.  Happy Swapping.
