11  prisoner of love Valentine card in Valentine's Day by not2old4glitter on: March 14, 2007 01:17:33 AM
Here is the outside of the card I made for my bf this year

it's red and silver metallic papers (not super shiny, just subtle) and a real piece of chain sewn on.

13  hot pink wristlet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by not2old4glitter on: March 14, 2007 01:07:36 AM

inside

There is a Joann fabrics near me that's closing, and everything in the store is on sale. Even those little fabric samples for the Home Dec department where you have to buy with custom orders. Some of those fabrics are $50 a yard or more, but the 16" x 16"  samples are selling for 1.39 each now. I  went crazy and bought tons of them, they are perfect for pillows or purses!
This wristlet is made from two of those Home Dec samples: a hot pink floral embroidered cotton rib fabric from India, trimmed with pink faux-snakeskin piping.
It's also lined with purple water-repellant nylon (raincoat material).

14  knitting bag with a split personality in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by not2old4glitter on: March 14, 2007 12:49:37 AM
here's my knitting bag
My requirements were to hold 16 inch long needles and not look too calico-kitschy.
I knit on the train going to work so I wanted something to look a little more professional, at least on the outside. I used grey and black since that seems to be  90% of my wardrobe! There is also one of those plastic backpack clippy things on the strap.
It's worn messenger style,  across the body.

showing the exterior pocket
fabric is a charcoal-grey heavy denim and straps are nylon webbing

another view

I used bright flowered lining because the outside is so plain, and it's hard to find things in bags with dark lining. I like the contrast between urban neutrals on the outside and tropical brights on the inside.

15  Betty Boop biker wristlet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by not2old4glitter on: January 01, 2007 01:10:45 AM
I made this wristlet for my boyfriend's sister, when I met her last month she liked the bag I   was using and she loves Betty Boop so I saw this fabric and had to make her something.
I used studs and metal-toothed zippers to go with the motorcycle theme

16  black and white houndstooth wristlet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by not2old4glitter on: December 19, 2006 11:39:09 PM
I bought this black and white wool houndstooth jacket at the thrift store for $2.50. I have another bag project planned for the main body of it but I made this little wristlet from one of the sleeves. It's trimmed with black brushed denim.

you can't see the studs on top that well in the picture but there is a skull-shaped one and some dome studs. The strap is also studded.

here is the back, basically the same but without the skull stud

here is the lining. it's zebra-striped cotton with one zipper pocket

17  Re: Stuffed felt monsters - Now with tutorial and pictures (fixed!) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by not2old4glitter on: December 19, 2006 12:44:26 AM
here are some  animals I just made. the elephant is lime green stretch velvet and the giraffe is black polar fleece (with felt spots). They aren't really monsters, and they aren't made of felt, but they are made with this same technique. They are xmas gifts for a friend's children.

18  Re: Winter Holiday Decorating Craftalong! in Craftalongs by not2old4glitter on: December 17, 2006 09:31:59 PM
Here is my holiday decorating in the living room.  It's not complete, I still have to hang the stockings. but the top of the mantel is done. I don't have a tree so the mantel is the main focus of xmas decorating every year. It's small enough to not be overwhelming but big enough to be a little creative. This year I did a sparkly  crystalline theme. white lights and white candles and clear glass candleholders

I'm also adding christmas cards as I receive them, just stand them up in the back against the wall.

Here is the wreath above the mantel last year, I decorated it too ,just got one of those cheapy plain green wreaths from Michaels and added picks of holly, poinsettia, ornaments, etc.

this is how I've done it the past few years- multi-color with a theme of toys

20  "My First" ATC gallery for all the fabulous newbie ATC Artists in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by not2old4glitter on: December 12, 2006 01:19:22 AM
I made these tonight, they are my first attempts at ATC.
It's a series of 10 for xmas, I don't have a title yet. I think it might be "He sees you when you're sleeping..."

if those show up too small you can see it full size here

I have not figured out how to photograph small things close up and not be blurry. But I hope you can still read the words. It's bits of the lyrics to "santa claus is coming to town" which always struck me as a very creepy song. I found images of antique santas, some of which were already pretty creepy and menacing, others seem moreso when viewed next to the sinister lyrics. The background is red foil candy wrappers from peppermint almond roca.
I might add some glitter still and I need to design a backpiece for them.
