1  California / California: North / Lake Tahoe? on: September 05, 2009 02:53:45 PM
I'm up in North Lake. Anyone else?
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Dreadlock Tam! on: August 21, 2007 01:35:23 PM
I've had my dreadlocks for about 5 months now and I've been meaning to knit a tam the whole time! I decided I was tired of waiting, and found a pattern I semi-followed online. I altered it a considerable deal, so I might have to go back and re-do the pattern and just write up a whole new one....of course, only if anyone wants it. I noticed there are a LOT Of crochet tam patterns and very few knitting ones.

Cheers!

3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Vegan "Bachelor" Boy Cookbook on: August 12, 2007 10:27:07 PM

This was just a plain black journal I picked up at a craft store. I cut up vegan pamphlets and made a collage on the front and back, and then I covered the design with Modge Podge to seal it.

The idea of this book is one I made for my boyfriend. We're both vegan, and he lives 8 hours away...and he's horrible in the kitchen. So, I'm making him a vegan cookbook with easy recipes in it.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / "EOK" and "nextct"???? on: July 11, 2006 02:52:38 PM
I am knitting the fishnets from SnBN and I'm stumped on some abbreviations. What does the term "EOK" mean? What does "nextct" mean?
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / First Post in *THIS* Forum! Corona Tube-Top with Bow! on: June 15, 2006 11:09:18 AM
So, I'm usually in the spinning and knitting forums, but you girls make some fantastically awesome stuff. I wanted to join in, too, and my mother let me borrow her sewing machine!

I started with a $1 tee I got at a flea market and an old Corona tee that is too big for me now that I've lost a buncha weight Smiley

This is the shirt all pinned up and ready to sew.

This is the finished product. It fits me really well and it's awfully cute Smiley Perfect for summer!
6  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Buying a Spinning Wheel? on: June 05, 2006 08:26:50 AM
First and foremost, I don't have a large amount of cash. I'm wanting to stay under $200, if I possibly could. Does anyone know where I can find a reliable spinning wheel for around that price? It doesn't seem as if any stores here in St. Louis carry them...
7  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Weight Loss Recipes? on: May 13, 2006 09:54:29 AM
I'm getting tired of the soup and cheerios.....any cheap and easy weight loss recipes out there?
8  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / "Packaging" for soap? on: April 26, 2006 09:21:15 AM
I'll be doing my first craft show, soon, and it's not traditional booth-to-booth. Everyone's items are all mixed together like a department store.

I make soap, but the visual aspect of the soap is important. How should I package the soap to sell and take home, but will still allow buyers to see what the soap looks like? Zip-lock bags are just too boring Wink
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Waterproof?! on: April 23, 2006 07:43:38 AM
I really want to knit my swimsuit for this summer, but I also like to splash around in the water a bit.

I really fancy this pattern: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer03/PATTwhitetrash.html

Does anyone know of waterproof yarn that I could use for THIS project (gauge and everything)? I've searched, but Google hates me lately.

10  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Chemical dying? Kiton on: April 21, 2006 02:51:05 PM
Back in November, I purchased a small, one ounce, jar of Kiton Acid Dye at a fiber fair. I never used it, but I'd like to now, because I have a craft show coming up and I have a LOT of undyed fiber!

All I have in the bag is a card for the lady I bought it from, and on the back, handwritten, it says "Pro Chemical Dyes" and "search Kiton."

Does anyone know how to dye with this? Any tips?
